GNAT0629- 11-30-2007
YAY I finally get to see this!!!
It was on FX last night so I recorded it. I'll watch it probably at some point over the weekend while I'm doing everything I can to prevent my illness to get worse. I can't wait!!!

I just saw it recently as well. I liked it.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. I find it grows on you and Ioan is quite different as Lancelot, a womanizing, hardened, expert warrior who underneath it all is still the vulnerable young boy stolen from his home. Breaks your heart.

Oh, Gnat! You are in for a treat. The film is a good all-round adventure too. Apart from the delight of a 'wicked' Ioan (gotta love the goatee!) the battle scenes are awesome. Is the version you recorded the Theatre Version or the Directors Cut? - they each have their good points and to my mind an amalgamation of both would be the perfect KA.

Happy viewing, Gnat!

In fact, I would have liked if the Director's Cut had been an uncut version of KA and that scenes were added without removing scenes that were there in the Theatrical Version but not in the Director's Cut.

Good for YOU, Gnat!!! Think you're going to like it a lot. It'll be fun to see what you think of Lancie. . . . . Try not to drool too much!! :knight 2

When I was watching King Arthur last night I noticed something that kinda "bugs me". Would love to hear what you guys think - there is no CORRECT answer -
After the knights had been dismissed by Germanus, the next time we see the knights, they are at the tavern.............
Bors is at the bar and Dag walks up - Bors says "Where have you been?" This is my questions..........Where do you think Dag was??????????? and WHY do you think that???
I have my own ideas, but I will save them until after a few respond.
StevieT- 12-02-2007
My thoughts on the matter are that Dag is never quite the equal in 'rank' if you like to the other knights
SPOILER
(which makes it all the more poignant when he sacrifices himself)

and appears at first to be subservient to Bors. But by the end of the film, I'm thinking he's just the strong silent type and Bors greeting is just matey. Like "Hey, what's happening?"
On the other hand, Bors may have been suspicious that Dag was fathering some children for him
Frances- 12-02-2007
Honestly, I've always interpreted Bors' words to Dagonet at the tavern as a matey greeting to a friend who came in later than the others.

Thanks for your input
I kinda thought that Dag - maybe needed some time alone - or maybe needed to "see" someone one last time - or to mend fences. I think deep down he was a fairly smart man and knew that Germanus brought nothing but trouble (especially the little conversation after they defeated the Woads)
I guess I was further convinced when he is the one to speak up "We have the word of Arthur - I'll prepare" I think he knew it was a suicide mission.
Frances- 12-02-2007
Though it was clear that Germanus brought nothing but trouble, I admit I did not think Dagonet was late at the tavern for reasons connected with the mission ahead because Arthur had not announced to the knights that they had to leave on a final mission before freedom would be granted to them.
SPOILER
I did think though that Lancelot would die before the end of the film when - during the scene in the stable - he tells Arthur "I will die in battle, of that I'm certain, and hopefully a battle of my choosing, but if it be this one, grant me a favour... Don't bury me in our sad little cemetery, burn me! Burn me and cast my ashes to a strong east wind..." At least, he died in a battle of his choosing... :crying

Frances - THAT ismy favorite sequence in the whole movie - love Lancelot's anst
***SPOILER***
Another reason I think Dag was doing "something else" was because during their meeting with Germanus he "teases" the men with their freedom papers - but then when the knights initially won't leave for him to talk with Arthur alone, Germanus "leers" at the knights and closes the freedom papers rather nastily. (Like if you don't co-operate - these papers will not be delivered to you) That is what makes me think that the knights somehow "instinctively" know that something is not right. Sometimes "gestures" can say more than words ever could - ya know?? Germanus wants the family back by whatever means possible - and he figures his best chance is the knights - whether they make it or not does not concern him - just the family.
***END OF SPOILER***

POSSIBLE SPOILER WARNING
My thought was that perhaps Dag had taken a quiet moment in the cemetary to say good-by to old friends. They had made it through their service. Though he was the strong, silent type, he was the Protector over those still living and probably had been over some who died. He also showed he had a sentimental side when he took care of Lucan.
To me, when Bors said that it was because he was so used to having Dag next to him in battle and in the tavern and he was wondering why Dag was not there when they were celebrating.

Ok am not reading some of these as I still haven't watched it yet. I'm not sure if it's the director's cut or the theatrical. I'll let you know when I've watched it though. As well as my thoughts.
StevieT- 12-04-2007
It is worth owning both for the missing scenes. Especially as they come quite cheap now (in the UK, anyway. Morrisons has the DC for £5.99)
