Gaffer'sGirl- 06-01-2007
I would would love to see him in a period piece like maybe 1st or 2nd World War. One of these great sagas like the RRegeneration Trilogy by Pat Barker. He has proved he 'ages' well and we all know he can act.
I don't know those books, but he does have a great look for the era and always looks good in a uniform.
On a totally eyecandy, lighter side, I think he'd be scrumptious as a US motorcycle cop......those tight breeches.... :naughty
Are you suggesting a re-make of CHiPs? With a Welsh man replacing Ponch or John - Oh! just realized he could be John. That would work - Ponch and Ioan. What hispanic actor could we use to replace Ponch.
He'd definitely look good in motorcyle pants. GG

Gael Garcìa Bernal
in second choice maybe Antonio Banderas, but Gael is my number one choice

Oh! Ditto! Gael's already been seen on a motorcycle in The Motorcycle Diaries. I'd thought of Banderas, but would prefer Bernal. :naughty :cold shower 1

I think that Ioan should play in a WWII period peice as well, but as a Nazi or something similar to the commander in Schiendler's list.
I think if they remake a CHiPs movie, Antonio (hot though he is) would be too old. What about the guy who was in Miss Congeniality. I know he's hot on TV right now but I can't remember his name.
I'm still holding out for another "high impact" character like Wilberforce, except on the other side. I also think Ioan would be an excellent Evil Magician Trent with Hugh as Bink.
And I am not all that surprised if no one knows what I mean. I'll go stand over here in the supreme geek corner.

I thought of Ioan and the big deal he turned down when it was announced last month that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson are teaming up for three Tintin movies. Apparently they are going to be computer animated (CGI) with a $100 million budget.
This is pure speculation, but what a temptation it would be for Ioan to be part of a huge international series with this talent. And yet he has said that he doesn't enjoy the green screen "play acting" in Fantastic Four, and it would be far from his stated goal of being a leading man. Or maybe it was the thought of the yellow hair and topknot! (Now, who's the geek, KJ?)
I like the "Napoleon dragon" idea, too. I'm going to have to check out that book!

Jackon's doing Tintin? I've never heard of that. Some sort of comic book universe? A character?
I really really really REALLY want him to get busy with Temeraire!

Benjamin Bratt (or something like that)?
A WWII film would be great for Ioan. I'd be all for that.

Benjamin Bratt exactly--thanks!!
what kind of WWII though, Ioan would look great in those flyboy outfits as a romantic lead, but I still think an all black Gestapo outfit would really bring out his eyes.
I think he would be a great SS officer bad guy as well as a great B52 gunner. oh, the choices, the choices!!
StevieT- 06-03-2007
I was thinking more a British soldier (or maybe an Italian prisoner of war, incarcerated here.......those dark, smouldering looks....... :cold shower 1

I'm a huge fan of Neil Gaiman's Sandman. And although I know the series will probably never be made into a feature film, I'd love to see Ioan as Morpheus. He's got the dark and chiselled enough looks to portray the Lord of Dreams. Besides, the character is not simply good or bad, he's tormented and sweet and ah! (He also happens to be one of the graphic novel heroes I absolutely have a crush on, if that's even possible.)
And the bonus to this role? Ioan could be seen in period clothing
and in contemporary goth / punk / biker / whatever clothes. And more importantly, definitely shirtless, too. :naughty
If I can get this picture thing to work, this pic is the one that convinced me. He is Sandman!

Hi, Lori: Here's a link http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6656635.stm to the movie's press release. If you want to learn more about Tintin, visit www.tintin.com or a fun forum at www.tintinologist.org. It is a whole 'nother universe!
Yavannie, I agree with you about Sandman ... yumm! But then I pretty much agree with every one of these suggestions for more Ioan!

Sylviane- 06-04-2007
I know, it might sound weird, but tonight I suddenly considered another part for Ioan. That of Fred Astaire in a movie about his life...
The strangest thing is that a part of me is absolutely against it. Mr Astaire is, IMHO, such an icon in the musical world, that he cannot be 'played' by anyone. I mean, he was not that handsome, but when he starts to dance, OMG !!! :thud The grace of that man just makes him the most beautiful man in the universe.
So a part of me thinks that Ioan couldn't do it, at the same time I'd like to see him try it...
I'll go and :hide. I'm not sure for what though. The reactions I may get at the suggestion :bricks? Or for the inevitable question that signals the generation gap. Who's Fred Astaire? :shock

StevieT- 06-04-2007
I can see where you're coming from, sort of, Sylviane. Although Fred astaire wasn't that good looking, he played leading men so there must have been something besides his dancing.
i think Ioan has that classic matinee idol look and would do well in a biopic. How about Errol Flynn? :hammer

On Fred Astaire: Agreed. There has to be more. Just never found out what it was, though. But I know I just love his movies. For his grace in dancing. but also for the way he always looked like a gentleman. Ah, men in suits! Maybe that is why I believe that Ioan would look great as Astaire.
And I have to admit that my judgement is also clouded by the memory of Dirk Benedict, when asked what one of his most beautiful moments on the set of Battlestar Galactica was, replied, that he watched Fred Astaire dancing on the set (where he played Chameleon, Starbuck's father) in an unguarded moment. It was not so much the story itself as the tenderness that Dirk put in his story that affected me.
On Errol Flynn?: Guy Pearce did an early Errol Flynn and was pretty good. Though I'm not sure of how accurate it could have been as little is apparently known about his early life. If I'd have to chose I'd rather see Matthew Rhys play Errol Flynn, or Guy Pearce reprise the part. :dunno. Ioan would not be my first choice.
Frances- 06-04-2007
Fred Astaire and Errol Flynn would be good roles for Ioan. :thumbs up I think he would make a good Gatsby in The Great Gastby, if the book was ever re-adapted for the big screen.
