I've never had one or seen one in a grocery store, though they might be found in a specialty shop or a British themed pub. I looked them up and they sound good. Maybe, because I love sausage. I had very crispy bacon tonight after work. I haven't made any for awhile, so it was tasty.

I'm probably going to kick myself for asking this but what are Scotch Eggs?? :?:
I'm craving a Turkey Tom from Jimmy John's.
But I had to settle for Potbelly's. Oh well.
Is a Turkey Tom some kind of turkey sandwich? We don't have that restaurant here.
I just ate some Fritos Big Scoops. Not a good idea - my weight loss plan is losing. :???:

Gnat, Scotch Eggs are a hard boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat and covered in breadcrumbs. They're delicious!!!!!
STRAWBERRIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They're in season and I've had some of the best-tasting ones in years! So much so I had to get the butter-pound cake and real whipped cream to go with .... I love summer!
Stevie - thanks for the explanation. If I could have that be turkey or chicken sausage that would be great.
GG - yeah it's a turkey sandwich. Jimmy John's might only be here in Illinois because it was founded in one of the college towns here. I can't remember if it was down at U of I or Eastern Illinois or what. But my friend actually went to school with the guy who started it. These are singularly the best sub sandwiches on the planet!!!!!
Oooh Hil!! That sounds lovely! And it reminds me that there's a strawberry festival going on around here I think. Mmmm, this little town has this fest every year and they sell the biggest chocolate covered strawberries at their confectionary - THE BEST!!!!
However, today I'm craving a big, fat, juicy steak with A1 sauce. No scratch the sauce - just the steak.
Right now, though, I'm eating a gyro.
No scratch the sauce - just the steak.
That's my girl!!!!!!!!! Let's not be polluting good beef with sugared sauces.
And regarding strawberries --- you'll be having some of the best to be had fairly soon. It wasn't until my trip up your way last year that I realized the berries we have here in Texas are basically "plastic." We usually don''t have a good growing season for strawberries (although our blueberries are tres good!) so they are imported. Meaning their picked before their prime hence their "plastic" characteristics. But somehow, our local Costco got some in from California that are the bomb! Too bad they'll only last a week.
But Illinois strawberries are among the best!
I enjoy strawberries very much, but blueberries are just divine. I just bought some yesterday. Yummm! especially with bananas.

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!! The local sweet delicious strawberries have arrived!! Love them with homemade shortcake, lots of whipped cream .

Hey Hil next time you want to take a trip up here to the Chicago area - do it around this time and go to a little town called Long Grove. The town is very pretty and very historic. Most of these buildings in the business district date back over 100 years ago. But it's this town I spoke of that has an annual strawberry fest. It's a HUGE deal. And in the fall it's the apple fest. But I don't think that's as big as the strawberry one. And yes we are very fortunate to have strawberry places around, especially up by where I live.
Still haven't killed my steak craving yet. :hmm:
Chickpeas!
Oh, and forest strawberries. Or wild strawberries maybe, I don't know the translation, the little strawberries. My mom said she had already found some, gotta go look for them!
Chickpeas, I think are the same things we call garbanzo beans. They are quite good.
Wild strawberries sound like fun to pick. Do you live near a forest?
I had a turkey and swiss roller from Costco for lunch and it hit the spot. Though now I want chocolate.
