Aw! Fooled me there at the end, Ship. I was picturing an old couple like my folks and their life-long love. My Mom recently commented on how she fell in love with the 4 year old boy driving the snazziest looking, maroon, convertable, pedal car. around the neighborhood. And then, it turned out to be about lost love. Something I know all too well. :roll: Great job, my dear.

Thanks,GG. I know about said subject myself.

~~~~~~~~~~SHARING~~~~~~~~~~ She sits,eating an/ Orange,when he leans close and/ Kisses her juicy mouth. ~~~~~~~~~~ "Mmmmm,'sweet'," he says and/ Wipes a tiny juice droplet/ From her lower lip. ~~~~~~~~~~ "Me?...Or,the orange?"/ She smiles,drawing a finger/ Down his stubbled jaw. ~~~~~~~~~~ "Both!" He lovingly/ Gazes into her face and/ His eyes sparkle bright. ~~~~~~~~~~ "Love you to the moon..."/ He says. "...and back!" comes her reply./ Eight-thirty A.M. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ They take a walk down/ Busy city streets and lock/ Their arms together. ~~~~~~~~~~ They howl with laughter/ When they recall those stories/ Of when they first met. ~~~~~~~~~~ They grow silent when/ They reach the church where they were/ Wed. A while ago. ~~~~~~~~~~ Now turning to look/ Into each other's eyes and/ Still see SO MUCH there! ~~~~~~~~~~ "Love you to the moon..."/ She says. "...and back!" He whispers low./ Two-fourteen P.M. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The day is over/ And they sit,in bed,watching/ Black-and-white movies. ~~~~~~~~~~ A bowl of ice cream/ Shared between them...with two spoons./ "Fudge-nut Brownie Swirl"! ~~~~~~~~~~ "Mmmmm,that's gooood," he says,/ As they rub noses,sweetly./ (Turns,to switch-off light.) ~~~~~~~~~~ "Me?...Or,the ice cream?"/ She gives him a little wink/ And rumples up his hair. ~~~~~~~~~~ "BOTH!" He sighs,content./ "Love you to the moon..."/ "...and back!" They say as one voice./ Twelve-oh-six A.M.
Oh, that is really sweet. A wished for dream for most people, (to have a love that close) even some of those who are married. Nice touches, Ship.
Shipmate- 02-27-2009
A bit on the mushy side,but I kinda like some sometimes...
Gaffer'sGirl- 02-27-2009
Mushy can be just fine for some things.
StevieT- 02-27-2009
That's lovely, Matie! I can just see it, especially that juicy droplet..... Water black, the rocky bed a mere rumour, She swims among the shadows. Would that he were there to ease her humour. With bolder strokes of sun glow Across his shoulders. A patch of warmth in sunlit gold reminds her That Summer has not yet fled. Time yet to see him ride a path that finds her Time to quell that growing dread Within that smoulders. Embers of a love so ragged torn adrift As to die, 'twere not for him. He, that rides the wind on hooves of gold so swift To reach her where she swims In joy to hold her.
Shipmate- 02-27-2009
Oooooooooooooooo,lovely,lovelyLOVELY!!! The last three lines in particular. -------------(Also,"With bolder strokes of sun glow/ Across his shoulders"..............ooooooo, you know me,and my attraction to shoulders............) very nice!
Gaffer'sGirl- 02-28-2009
Could definitely visualize that, Stevie. Of course, I'm visualizing very specific characters for that one.
StevieT- 02-28-2009
Ok, I'm trying my hand at a little poetry. I was inspired on my walk today. Hope you like. DOWN BY THAT RIVER Down by that river, over nigh, Where water’s restless currents race. Silent Lovers, you will spy With limbs held in tight embrace. Affection buds so fresh and green In Spring’s soft light they clutch. Love’s first glow with its wondrous sheen Adorns them while they touch. Together they reach the atmosphere. In the summer’s sun, they flourish. Grateful to have the other so near Forever this moment to cherish. When, Fall’s leaves become a shrine Of Summer’s crimson kisses. They cling together, trunks entwined To share the warmth both misses. From their marrow, they are bound Through Winter’s storms, reassuring. Roots planted firmly in the ground. This true love forever enduring. Down by that river, over nigh You’ll see two trees grow side by side. Beneath the ground where their roots lie Forever together, they will abide.
I'm impressed, GG. I envy those who can write poetry because I would like to be able to, but I'm not.
Shipmate- 03-18-2009
