Here's one for a younger Ioan to play for us. It's called BIG NIGHT ~~~~~~~~~ He comes to her with.....A corsage of violets.....In a nervous hand. ////// Swallowing hard, he.....Knocks on her door, tap...tap...tap... .....(Hope I look all right!) ////// Looking down from her.....Bedroom window, she then floats.....To answer the door. ////// (Don't be silly,now!).....Opens door, seeing HIM there. ....."Oh hi!---Those for ME?!!" ////// "Uhh,...yeah,...YES!...for you..." .....His face red as an apple. ....."They're pretty. C'mon in. . . " ////// There they are---staring---.....She, in purple dress, and her.....Grandma's pearl necklace. ////// He, in white tux-coat,.....Purple tie (to match HER dress),.....Oh! They look AWESOME! ////// Parents, misty-eyed,.....Watch as they ride off to the.....Valentine's Day dance. ;cupid: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~This one, for a more mature Ioan, is called HIS MAJESTY---HER MYSTERY ~~~ Standing before her.....He totally looks the part.....Of the handsome prince. ////// She smiles, looking up.....Into the deep, soft, dark eyes. ....."I'm glad you could come. . . " ////// Kissing fingertips,.....'The Prince' does not take his eyes.....From her flawless face. ////// Feeling her cheeks flush.....She turns quickly and leads him.....To her sitting-room. ////// 'The Prince' puts two lumps.....Of sugar in his tea, and.....Silently loves her. ////// They talk, laugh and share.....So many things in common,.....Still so much to say. . . . ////// At sunset, 'The Prince'.....Walks down her steps and leaves her.....Yet...AGAIN!...once more! :love2: HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, EVERYONE!!!!!!! :love2:

You've been busy in your few days absence. Quite nice for Valentine's.

Shipmate- 02-08-2008

Thanks. Counting syllables is a good passtime while you're waiting for the storms to blow away!

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-08-2008

Yes, enduring life and death situations can be quite inspiring, but I'm glad to know you don't have to be faced with that type of situation to produce some excellent and inspiring work.

Thanks, Matey! :hug Here's my take on the Fourteenth...... Not About a Boy "Thursday's Valentine's," she said, "I know," was my reply. "So, Mum, will you be going out?" "Er, no!" I gave a sigh. "But, Mum! We need to be alone!" Her anticipation plain. I tried to cast my memory back; The joy before the pain. "I'll see a film," I nodded then, Satisfied at her relief. "Thanks , Mum! You are the best!" Divorce - not always grief! Later when the doorbell rang I opened it, resigned. Finding not the Boy, at all, But the other Man, who's mine!

Very inspired, ladies! I wish I had your ease with words... and a man who wrote poems for me for Valentine's day...

Alright,Mr. Gruffudd, could you, maybe, improv these "scenes" for me/us,please? : #1 SPIES --------- Only married for////// A few weeks, she secretly////// Spies on her husband. ****** She watches him shave.////// He's a straight-razor type man,////// Razor-strop and all.****** She watches him groom.////// Combing, clipping, brushing teeth---////// Sucking in tummy.****** She watches him dress.////// Pj's off;underware on.////// Windsor knot in tie. ****** She watches him choose////// His suit from the closet,his////// Socks, handkerchief, shoes.****** And when he's ready////// To leave the room and head out////// To his "Big Bad World"......****** She feigns a yawn and////// Asks: "Breakfast, before you go?////// ...I've been watching you. . . " ****** "Breakfast? Nah,... I'll just////// Catch something quick on the way."////// "......Been watching YOU,too!" ****** Gives her long, S--L--O--W kiss.////// Whispers something seductive////// In her ear, and then////// Chuckles wickedly,////// Winks teasingly,////// Grins handsomely,////// And leaves her --- wanting more.... XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX #2 THE EYEBROW -------- Sleek and satiny////// She looks in the mirror one////// Last time. He watches. ****** "Perfect,Darling," he ////// Exhales behind her,as he ////// Places on her wrap. ****** "You look pretty good////// Yourself,Tiger..." We'll call them,////// Tell 'em we can't come!" ****** "Ooooh, but that's sooo wrong."///// The eyebrow goes up again ---- ////// "Let's DO IT, Tiger!!" ****** "Where can we get good, sloppy burgers?" He loosens his tie and collar.////// "And take them home." She slips off her shoes, and snuggles very close to him. XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX #3 WHOSE WAR IS IT? -------- Sitting alone,he////// Plucks the flower and twirls it////// Between his fingers. ****** Remembering when////// He'd picked flowers for her hair.////// He plays the old game. ****** Daisy petals fall.....////// She loves me, she loves me not,...////// "She LOVES me!" Don't have much time to comment, but a :cold shower 1 is needed after that. Great job, Ship.

StevieT- 03-14-2008

Thank you so much, my friend :hug You enrich my days with your creative thoughts. (and I'm sending you something that your last poem reminds me of! )

Gaffer'sGirl- 03-17-2008

Came back and finally got the chance to re-read. Really like two in that, it is so intimate in a different sort of way - lovers knowing the true person under the image. Three was also very touching when you think of Warriors and those you have loved ones who serve.

Shipmate- 03-17-2008

Thank you. I like trying to write in the short, concise style. I'm getting quite a few of these "scenes" in my head now, and they are fun to see what I can do with them.

Shipmate- 05-02-2008

Here's a new one. See if it makes any sense. Can't think of a clever title for it! But, in my mind's eye, I sure can see a certain man playing the part.................... Twirling,turning/////ONE,two,three---ONE,two three.................. Swirling,swaying/////ONE,two,three---ONE,two,three....... Dark eyes burning/////ONE..two..three---ONE..two..three..... Tempting? Betraying?/////One...two...three---One...two...three... Smoldering glance,/////One...two...three---One...two...three... A promise of romance?/////One....two....three---One....two....three... Then, music dies,/////one......two......three---one......two......three And away she flies/////one........two........three---one........two........Stop. Into the arms of another!

Gaffer'sGirl- 05-02-2008

Oh! I see a wonderful cotillion dance from a Jane Austen novel. He of couse, is the wealthy, mysterious man the reader wants to end up with the heroine. She cannot tell what he thinks of her as he is too enigmatic. In your poem we get his perspective and find that he is not as confident in triumphing in his flirtation as he seems. Glad to see another one, Ship.

Shipmate- 05-06-2008

Thank you. You are so kind. Was hoping that I could find the rhythm in the waltz somehow. There was lots of swirling going on in my head,...I know THAT for sure!
