Well, pooh! That's not much at all!!! I'm still going to see it,however.

Frances- 10-13-2008

'W' is set to open the next Torino International Film Festival on November 21, 2008. http://www.torinofilmfest.org/index.php?lang=eng What I find funny is that no date has been announced yet for its release in Italian theatres.

' What I find funny is that no date has been announced yet for its release in Italian theatres. Hmm, yes, Frances. And in Britain, festival appearances seem to come months before general release sometimes

No sign of Ioan at the New York premier of 'W' - what and where are you up to, Welshboy? Other arrivals to be seen at..... http://www.wireimage.com/ItemListings.aspx?nbc1=1&igi=338283&Source=blml081015

Shipmate- 10-15-2008

Hmmmmmmm, Ioan,Ioan,wherefore art thou,Ioan!

Gaffer'sGirl- 10-15-2008

The NY Premiere looks like a more formal event than the L.A. It would appear that Ioan is sticking close to home. Maybe that's a good sign for Meant to Be's. I hope so. I hope he's not going through the tortures of launching a series like on The TV Set.

"Meanwhile, the supporting performances tend to be so remarkable that the audience is left wanting more of the secondary characters. Even so, this is a minor complaint because with the exceptions of Donald Rumsfeld(Scott Glenn) and Tony Blair(Ioan Gruffudd), the characters receive enough screen time to develop as individuals." Interesting comment from this reviewer,; suggests that though Ioan's part is small, he (and others) do a good job! http://2reels.blogspot.com/2008/10/w.html

It is a nice compliment. We've seen pictures from two different locations - sitting in a chair and walking outside. Perhaps like in many films some had to be cut or maybe it is two very short scenes.

Shipmate- 10-18-2008

I went to see "W." yesterday afternoon. On my own personal scale,I give the movie an "8" out of "10". Ioan has only ONE SCENE.........a cameo, and not at all enough for me to see!!!!!!! He looked great, and he sounded like his normal-voiced self. From what I saw (about a minute's worth),he did do a nice job with his scene. However,I have no frame of reference for Tony Blair to note whether Ioan interpreted "Tone" well or not. Also, when you go,see if you notice that only the RIGHT side of Ioan's face was shown(probably because of that eye injury at the time!). ----------------------------------- I enjoyed the movie, and maybe some of you out there can tell me something once you have seen it. When it ended,...did you feel kind of sorry for the President? I did. See what you think-------it's worth going to see.

StevieT- 10-18-2008

Thanks for the report, Matie! I'll certainly go and see the film, despite Ioan's near absence

Gaffer'sGirl- 10-18-2008

Thanks a lot, Ship. It's not playing in my local theaters, so I'll have to check the ones an hour away. Of course, it may come in another week.

Frances- 10-20-2008

Thanks a lot for the report, Ship. I think, too, that I'll go see this movie in spite Ioan's presence being so tiny that it is almost not worth listing him in the cast, if (or - if I want to be optimistic - when) it reaches my local theaters.

Frances- 10-21-2008

Meanwhile, I discovered that 'W' ran 4th in the box office charts for last weekend. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/weekend/chart/

marthe- 10-21-2008

Thanks Ship for your report on the movie. When I can see him in Belgium, I certainly will answer your questions.

Even though Ioan's role is small, I would venture to guess that his agent negotiated the credits as part of the deal. The film is fairly low budget, so pay must not have been high. Credits are sometimes used to make up for that. Ioan was both an early contract signer, and (regardless of whether some people liked or disliked FF) he has been a key actor in a box office and TV successes. His cameo haven't been too bad either. Another guess - since there have been two pictures released at two different locations - it could very well be that the part was initially larger. Since, the movie tends to concentrate on GWB's early life and rise to the Presidency, they may have found they had to cut. Of course, it could be he just accepted the role as seen, just to be in an Oliver Stone movie.
