I wonder when Ioan will begin to be on this set??

StevieT- 05-17-2008

It depends, because Ioan's part will come later on in Bush's life. one thing's for sure, he won't have to work too hard on Tony's trademark 'niceness'!

Gaffer'sGirl- 05-17-2008

I'm sure Brits will get more of the nuances of Ioan's performance and whether he hits it spot on than we will on this side of the ocean. We'll be dependent upon your imput as to how well he does portraying Mr. Blair. I would have never thought of a trademark "niceness".

This sounds juicy. :) http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/1976311/George-W-Bush-film-by-Oliver-Stone-could-embarrass-Tony-Blair.html

StevieT- 05-17-2008

Yes, it was quite a 'selling point of Blair's; lot's of smiles, time for everyone, Labour's bright new shining (nice) star. The smile got a little manic by the time the WoMD affair came along. I hope Ioan catches that...... Tony's wife, Cherie has just released a 'tell all' autobiography. Should be ideal airplane reading for Ioan

Nicolette- 05-17-2008

Thank you for the article. :) Yes I guessed Ioan wouldn't have a big role in this motion picture. Pffffff anyway. :)

StevieT- 05-17-2008

Regarding the Telegraph article....one has to know that the Daily Telegraph is a Tory rag - anti anything leftwing of Thatcher, but the British press in general has always portrayed Blair as being Bush's 'poodle' ( and Gordon isn't much better) where Iraq is concerned..... But :tsk tsk: General - you're getting political again! I've never believed this would be a 'comfortable' film to watch, but it could be interesting. I think Ioan could do a very convincing 'smarmy and obsequious' too!

Nicolette- 05-17-2008

Thank you for this nice article. Heeee Ioan looks a bit like Blair on this pic.

Frances- 05-17-2008

Thanks for the article, Annee. I've never believed this would be a 'comfortable' film to watch, but it could be interesting. I think Ioan could do a very convincing 'smarmy and obsequious' too! Oliver Stone is kind of a master of controversial subjects, but his films are often interesting. I hope 'W' will be, too.

Nicolette- 05-17-2008

I hope so too. :)

Gaffer'sGirl- 05-17-2008

I heard about Cherie Blair's tell all the other day. I think that would be a must read for Ioan. Something extra for his performance. Ioan is fortunate that Blair is no longer in office. I think the biggest dea here is that the film will be released several months before Bush leaves office. Not something that is usually done here.

JeepGirl83- 05-18-2008

I'm excited that imdb.com has the movie listed and the cast (yea! for Noah Wyle and Toby Jones) :D This should make for an interesting film.

Mr. Stone sounds determined. http://www.thefirstpost.co.uk/people,974,bush-biopic-set-for-pre-election-release,29205

Shipmate- 05-19-2008

Yes,should be quite provocative. So close to election time,it may cause some stir alright. Stevie,I thought the comment you made about Mrs.Blair's book being something Ioan could read was great! He could probably learn quite a bit from it for his role. I'm thinking this will be most enjoyable to watch---no matter what political view one has.

?????? Is he Mr. Brolin or GWB? ?????? http://filmgeekchronicles.blogspot.com/2008/05/josh-brolin-as-w-coming-october-2008.html I do not know whether Ioan is in Louisiana or not, still it seems confirmed: shooting for W has started. :) ********* Last Tuesday, inside Freddy Mac's, a bar downtown, workers were laying tiles on the dance floor when Mr. Stone emerged, having just walked through the scene with Josh Brolin, who is playing George W. Bush. "I'm used to making movies around here," Mr. Stone said. "I made four movies in Dallas. And where we are right now," he said, gesturing toward the town and the plains beyond, "is Bush country, so it feels right." "You get something working with extras from here," Mr. Stone added. "Look, these people are gamblers and roughnecks. They know all about boom and bust. This is a second-chance town. I just read that there may be a huge reserve of gas right under the city that was not discovered until very recently." Mr. Stone is right. Speculators are already moving in on word a few weeks ago that the so-called Hayneville Shale field may be a mother lode of gas deposits. The backlot of Shreveport, already rich in lore, may be picking up a few new characters and a twist in the plot. ********** http://www.nytimes.com/2008/05/20/movies/20shre.html?_r=1&pagewanted=2&oref=slogin
