I do prefer his darker eyes, but I've always wondered what he would look like with blue eyes. Think I'll stick with Ioan au natural! :wink: I bet it's kind of fun to see yourself transformed that much with make-up. Try out a look without making it permanent.

Yeah, wouldn't you like to know how Ioan really regarded himself the first time he got made up for this role? I'd like to have heard what was said.

Seems to me he made some comments about how he looked when they put on the grayish wigs in Amazing Grace. Don't remember the exact words he used, but I think he found it a little shocking. :unsure:

I'm certain it's a very unsettling sensation when you look in the mirror at yourself for the very first time.......and,especially when it's of someone who still very much alive and a topic of public discussion.

What was that crack Paul Newman made once about sinking into oblivion if his eyes turned brown overnight? I guess Mother Nature knows her stuff! Anyone read about the British Olympic team all wearing red contact lenses to cut out the glare in Bejiing?

Yeah! Paul Newman would not be the same without his twinkling blues. And yes, I think Ioan's dark hair and eyes suit him as well. Red Contacts! That sounds a bit creepy. Wonder what they look like once they are in and combine with the natural color of their eyes. I'll be watching to see.

With you there, Red. As you'll be aware, Tone's hair was a sort of light brown in the early days - I'm guessing this pic is from the beginning of their liason (ruff ruff :wink: )

Their work to change Ioan is very good, but it is difficult to accept an older Ioan and that will also be when he is really older. I will always love the young Ioan with dark curled hair and dark eyes and when I think at him, I always see him as Horatio, a young, gorgeous, lovely boy who steels many hearts. I love Ioan in historical movies as an actor in action, and not as a man in a distinguished suit. Hopely one day I will get used to it. :oops:

I know what you mean, marthe. :cool: The 'Ioan in our heads' always far outweighs reality. Fortunately, thanks to the magic of film (and those good old rose-tinted specs :wink:) we will always have that gorgeous boy, as well, as his older, maybe wiser self, and there's something to be said for him too! Gosh, I must stop taking those philosophy pills :roll:

Got to admit young Ioan is cute, but I think he's maturing very nicely in his looks. For me, it's something underlying that outside "beauty" that has always drawn me, whether it be joy, humor or some unnamed something he's able to present as an actor. I think he'll always retain that. I'm not so fond of the blue eyes, but with Ioan's bone structure, he should always be a handsome man.
