Nicolette - Here is the simplified version. Basically the Actors' unions SAG and AFTRA may be striking at the end of June. Much like the Writers, they want to deal with the issues of residuals and control of new media like the internet, DVD's, etc. After that date, any actor working on a non-approved project would be considered a strikebreaker and could be blackballed by the industry. According to what Annee posted, it sounds as though Oliver Stone got a special approval or contract from SAG. If that is the case, even if they are still filming after the strike date, it won't be a problem for the actors involved. Does that help?

Seem to recall Ioan did make a comment about not crossing the strike lines during the WGA strike, so I doubt he'd do it against his own union. Phew! Cheers, GG!

Shipmate- 06-23-2008

Well, all of that is good to know. It surely does get murky tho',doesn't it?

Gaffer'sGirl- 06-23-2008

Yes, it does.

Nicolette- 06-23-2008

THANK YOU GG. :hug Yes I get it now. So I am released, about "W" movie. I don't want Ioan to get into troubles!

Gaffer'sGirl- 06-23-2008

Don't worry. Ioan and his agent will likely be very careful about that sort of thing. It doesn't benefit any of them for someone working as much as Ioan to be in trouble with SAG.

I hope so! It would be stupid then from Ioan, on the contrary, yes. Well, haha, the world of Cinema is "boiling" those days!

Silvia- 06-23-2008

Boiling to say the least!!!!! Glad the boyo doesn´t go against he´s own union!!!! Good for him!

Mr. Anderson comments on W casting. It's a bit particular, IMO. I cannot completely see the point. :) http://www.kwanzoo.com/social-trivia/w-casting-somewhere-george-bush-is-angrificationalized.shtml

Frances- 06-25-2008

Well, I think that Mr. Anderson's point was just to say how he liked the casting for 'W'. I would have liked that he mentioned who he would have cast instead of the actors that he thinks were miscast for a role.

Gaffer'sGirl- 06-25-2008

Good point, Frances. And we don't know if people were cast to with the thought of being made up to closely resemble the real people or if it was based more on their acting ability and how they can emotionally portray the characters. I do have to agree with him that Ioan is far more attractive than Tony Blair and would have to be downgraded in looks to resemble Blair, but I would hardly say that he looks "stupid". The way the reviewer made his statement, it sounded like he was basing that on one picture. Not very bright.

Nicolette- 06-25-2008

Thanks for the article! :) Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair I don’t know where they got that picture of Tony Blair but he looks like he got whacked with a stupid stick several times in the face. So unless they’re planning to beat the hell out of Ioan Gruffudd before every scene, pass.  Not bad one!

StevieT- 06-25-2008

Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair So unless they’re planning to beat the hell out of Ioan Gruffudd before every scene, pass. A golf club would do nicely!

Nicolette- 06-25-2008

 Yes! They've got the right person to do that...

Silvia- 06-25-2008
