From what I've read, it would appear the script was initially written before the strike, so any changes were probably quick. The reports say that it is very talky, instead of action based and they want to get it out before the elections in November. Prep time and shooting locations for much of it are not likely to be as difficult as an action film. Since the film covers a large time framein Bush's life, it could be they are starting shortly with some of the less complex scenes or where continuity is not an issue while they prepare for others.
Thanks for sharing, Annee.
Given that they have yet to start filming, I wonder whether it is viable that 'W' is released before Mr Bush leaves office next January. :dunno
I saw a short piece on "Inside Edition" yesterday, and they said that filming was due to start "in a few weeks."
Well, whether Ioan's role as Blair is large or small, it appears he's getting some good publicity out of it right now and that does help career wise.
Yeah,that's what I say,too! GO WELSHBOY!!!!!!!
Wow! Sounds real interesting...hope dear Ioan gets the part :D
Gimme a W-----gimme an E-----gimme an L-----gimme an S-----gimme an H.......... :Wales GO, Welshboy, GO!!!!!!!!! :Wales
:Wales :excited: I agree. Go Welshboy, Go! :excited: :Wales
Thanks for finding the various articles, annee! They make for very interesting reading. I think that there is no reason why Ioan would not make a good Tony Blair. I hope that this will bode well for more interesting parts coming his way in general. I must say that I cannot agree with the views of the Gary Slaymaker (film reviewer) in the ic wales article. Describing casting Ioan instead of Michael Sheen as bordering on 'sheer lunacy' is a bit much and saying that you cannot go from playing a character like 'Mr Fantastic' to 'Tony Blair' is as good as saying that (in his opinion)here we have an actor who can't act out different roles ;angry:
I say give it all you've got Ioan! :Wales
Hi RA, Totally agree with you on that!!!
Yeah, me too! Show 'em all, Ioan!
Anyway, Michael has played Tony twice now - just because he did it well doesn't mean he wants a career in being Tony Blair! And it doesn't mean someone else can't interpret the role very differently and still be a success.
BTW, if anyone gets the chance to see Michael in the biopic of Kenneth Williams 'Fantabulosa!' do it,; it's a masterpiece!

 Besides thinking that Ioan can make a very good Blair (he has already proven that he can be credible in a quite a range of different roles), I guess Michael Sheen might not want to be stuck with playing Tony Blair over and over again.
Agreed, Frances! Who wants to be type-cast these days?!!
Can't wait to see how this turns out.
Neither can I,Bonita, should be great fun.
