Very Anne Mary
I saw this movie on Sundance Channel. The movie was really good. Ioan's character was so flymboyant.

It's one I have on DVD and I put in every now and again for a chuckle. I've enjoyed Rachel Griffiths since Muriel's Wedding. Ioan and Matthew are quite funny, especially when they sing the song.

I taped this movie when it was showing on Sundance a 6-8months ago and I've watched it many times, it's hilarious. It actually get funnier every time I watch it because I'm understanding the thick Welsh accents better.
I love the singing/dance scene during the credits.

I really like that, too. So many cute groupings and Ioan and Matthew are pretty front and center.
I wonder if Matthew's working with Rachel in this film helped when it came to getting cast on Brothers and Sisters since he was cast later?

I've enjoyed Rachel Griffiths since Muriel's Wedding.
Isn't she an amazingly talented lady? I first saw her in the la-*test*-('") version of Ned Kelly.

Yeah! I agree she's pretty incredible. She was also quite good in "Hilary and Jackie". I lived near an art theater for several years and saw that and "Muriel's Wedding" at the movie theater when they first came out. My prefered way of viewing over DVD's or tape. I started watching Brothers and Sisters as much for her as Sally Field or :blush2: even I hate to say it Matthew Rhys. She's just so talented.

Did she do her own actual singing?

According to the director, (Sara?), in the Director's commentary on the DVD, there was an opera singer singing on location, to get the right feeling of what a woman really singing opera right there would sound like.
According to her Rachel cannot sing. Sara made a remark something along the lines: "Her singing wouldn't get her to the end of the street let alone to Rome."

Ouch, that's a bit harsh, don't you think? All well, it was really good singing who ever did it.

I would hope it was meant as a mutual joke. I was pretty sure it wasn't her, but don't recall listening to the Director's commentary. One more thing to add to the list. Rachel sure did an excellent lip-syncing job.

You never know with directors, GG. Some of them can be that cruel, but I am with you. I hope it's a joke, and not rather harsh criticism.
When I watched the film, it took me forever to figure out who the father was, then I watched Pirates of the Carribean : The curse of the black pearl, and there was the father! I was like, 'THAT'S WHERE I KNOW HIM". Yes I am that slow.

Sara Sugarman isn't exactly a David O. Russell or James Cameron. Rachel Griffiths and Sara Sugarman are friends, so I'm sure it was a joke. Listening to the commentary it certainly doesn't sound like a harsh critism.

I agree that it was more than likely a joke. I'm in that category of not being able to cross the street with my voice, and I'm not offended when friends tell me to "Keep your day job!"
Most of us who know we can't sing don't take offense when we are told that we can't sing. The rest ... well, they go to audition on American Idol.

Anyway, opera singing is not easy at all, unless you're trained for it.

Sorry, my fault, should have edited with a smiley or something. I just remember the Directors Commentary as a an enjoyable thing to listen to. (It has been while since I heard it.) She talked with a great sense of humor and to me it was an obvious fun remark. Forgot that not everybody automatically heard the commentary too. I would not have listened if I had not been playing with the 'subtitle' and 'language' bottons on my remote!
