Picked up my copy of BREAKING DAWN. Will probably start it this evening. You know,I sort of felt bummed that I didn't have more to read when I finished ECLIPSE! Wonder what will happen when I'm through with THIS one?

Gaffer'sGirl- 10-01-2008

You'll probably be anxiously awaiting the movie, Ship. There are some benefits to slow reading. Gnat - If I don't have to get up early for work, I rarely go to bed before 2:00AM. I always revert. My Mom said I was that way as a baby. I wish there was some magic pill that would cure my lungs. I'm afraid that won't happen in my lifetime. Better nutrition helps build my defenses, so the best I can do is make the effort. Hope your sinuses clear up! *************************SPOILER************************************************************** Yes, it was heartbreaking to hear Alice and Charlie talk about Bella's reaction. I wonder if Meyer planned that from the beginning or if it was one of those things that happen in re-writing when you know they have to talk about something and it is more effective that way then seeing or reading about it at the time from Bella's perspective. It gives Bella insight into how her actions affected those she loves at a time where she can receive it and understand. When she was traumatized, I doubt she would have perceived it the same way and since the novel is written from her POV, it would not have had the same effect. I love the contrasts Meyer makes between the warm almost hot, animalistic, reactive Werewolves to the icey cold and in control Vampires. Makes me wonder as I go along if Sam will compare to Carlisle Cullen - someone who did damage and realizes the need for control and has gained through time and maturity the ability to control negative impluses. I feel sorry for Jake. Had Bella never met Edward, she would probably have been happily in love with him. But once you have tasted true love, second best is never enough. She would feel as though she was using Jake and he would know it. They may be able to live with that, but eventually it would cause grief.

Gaff - yeah you just need to keep reading. I can't even comment because I don't want to give anything away. But there are more surprises in store for you. Matie - YAY!!! I'm so happy you got your copy of BD! It's a great ride. As for how you'll feel when you're done.....I know how that is. I was the same way. With both this series and Harry Potter. I remember reading the HP series and by the time I'd started reading them, six books had already come out. So I, along with the rest of the world, had to wait 2 whole years for the conclusion with the 7th book. But at the same time I was kinda happy that I got into that series so late and only had to wait one more book. Everybody else who'd been apart of that from the beginning had to go through the wait for each book. Same thing with the fans of this series. But, Meyer didn't make her fans wait nearly as long as Rowling did. But again I was happy that I didn't get into these books til they had all been released. I, like you, was able to read through the entire series uninterrupted. But since I did so in one week's time, I ended up going back through them again. This time more slowly. I just finished re-reading BD last night. I was able to catch more stuff this time around. I did the same thing with the 7th Harry Potter book. Although, as I said before.....you could go to Meyer's website and read the unfinished manuscript for Midnight Sun as well - if you're still wanting a bit more Twilight. It makes for a very good read and helps you understand a bit better about Edward and his decisions. Especially after having read New Moon. When you go back and read Midnight Sun and get Edward's POV on things......you feel a bit more understanding towards him and what he did in New Moon. But as Gaff pointed out..........there's always the movie next month!

Gaffer'sGirl- 10-02-2008

I finished New Moon last night and am starting Eclipse while I take my car in to get the window fixed. She does leave a bit of a cliffhanger.

marthe- 10-03-2008

Wauw Gaff, already two books. I can't wait to have my first one. And Gaff take good care of your lungs, what is the real problem with it ? And Gnat you take care of your sinuses. Good to hear that the movie comes out next month, but I suppose only in the States.

GNAT0629- 10-03-2008

Oh Marthe I meant to tell you I saw that the release date for Belgium is January 1. I'm sorry you have to wait til then, but hopefully you'll be able to get your hands on all 4 of the books to keep you occupied in the meantime? Gaff - I'm so proud of you!!! You'll have to send me your thoughts on New Moon. I think you'll like Eclipse. And yeah, she does leave you wanting a bit more at the end there doesn't she??? Wait til you get to the end of Eclipse!

Gaffer'sGirl- 10-03-2008

It's funny because I picked up a book called Women to Reckon With: Untamed Women of the Olympic Wilderness. I know the Author. Anyway as I was going through the history of the Area all I could think was about the Cullens being in the area during the same time period. I'd love to read more about that, but then Bella wouldn't be there. Yesterday I had to go into Port Angeles for an appointment. At the movie theater, there was a poster for Twilight and about a half a block down is Bella Italia with a picture of Stephanie Meyer and their staff out front. Kind of Surreal since I had the book with me. There's a double feature - Twilight and dinner at Bella Italia. I bet they do a promotion like that.

Shipmate- 10-04-2008

That's all pretty cool, isn't it?! These books are still very fascinating and fun. I'm about half-way through BREAKING DAWN at this point. Just wait 'til you get in this one,GG! Think you're really gonna like it..............

GNAT0629- 10-04-2008

Gaff - I'm quite sure they will do something like that. And I think YOU should go for it if they do! I'd love to hear about it. Matie - WOW girl! You are a marathoner aren't you??? I'm so glad you're enjoying it. I can't wait to read your thoughts.

GNAT0629- 10-10-2008

HOLY CRAP!!! So the latest (and final) Twilight trailer is up all over the internet right now. They showed a sneak peek of it last night on Entertainment Tonight, which I saw. It looks amazing!!! I haven't been able to watch the whole trailer yet because I can't access it here at work. I will, unfortunately, have to wait til tomorrow when I'm up at my mom's house. I can't wait to see this movie! It's so going to rock! That's all I had to say. Hey Gaff - how you coming along on the books?? Haven't heard from you in awhile. You too Matie - did you finish Breaking Dawn yet???

Shipmate- 10-10-2008

No,Gnat, not yet. Still have a little ways to go yet,but I'll get back with you soon------promise!

Gaffer'sGirl- 10-10-2008

Sorry I haven't been on much. I'm getting some additional training at work, so I've had to do some studying and I'm stil trying to finish my script. I'm still reading Eclipse, a little over halfway through. Just past where Bella hears Jasper's story. Sort of heartbreaking and makes me like Alice even more. The trailers I've seen on line do look fantastic. They seem to be doing a very good job visually. It will be interesting to see how they structure the story. Translating that much book to a movie can be very difficult. One advantage to this is most of the books are Bella's thoughts and perceptions and as they say one picture can be worth a thousand words. I think it will make an thrilling movie to watch.

marthe- 10-11-2008

Yes it will be a trilling movie. I also watched the trailer. Very trilling...... And I have recognized Kristen Stewart. I knew that I had seen here several weeks ago and it was in the movie Panic Room with Jodie Foster.

GNAT0629- 10-11-2008

Gaff - that's fine. Good luck on your training at work! Yes Jasper's story is pretty sad. But it explains him a lot better right? Especially when we first meet him in Twilight. Not to mention what happens at the beginning of New Moon at Bella's birthday party. And it does make you like Alice even more for finding him. So you've gotten past Rosalie's story too right? What did you think of that? Gives you a new perspective on her doesn't it? Marthe - I'm glad you got to see the trailers. Yes it's going to be an awesome movie! By the way, yes Kristen Stewart was in Panic Room when she was like 11. She was also in Zathura and Into the Wild.

Gaffer'sGirl- 10-15-2008

I've been pretty busy lately, so I'm still reading Eclipse. I've been getting through a Chapter a night. I've bought Breaking Dawn. **************************SPOILER******************************************************** I'm at the point where they are preparing for battle against the new vampires. I'm actually liking the Cullens and especially Edward more and more. Nice that it is Jacob and Edward who broker the compact between the Vampires and Werewolves.
