I'm not sure what waterfall they used in the movie, but likely it was in Oregon since that is where they filmed the movie. I know of Marymere Falls near here www.oceanlight.com/log/marymere-falls-olympic-national-park.html but I don't think that is what she was describing in the book. I'm sure there are other falls in the Olympic Forest as there are many wild areas, but I think that was a writer's invention. As for pictures check out these pages on the Twilight thread Page 3 has pictures of the Thriftway, Forks Outfitters and the Forks High School Page 5 has pictures of Lake Crescent and a log on the beach which reminded me of where Bella and Jacob meet. Page 9 has a picture of Bella Italia and the Lincoln Theater in Port Angeles - the ONLY theater. They are about two doors down from each other. In the It's a Small World Section of the Member's Gallery there are some more pics of the Forks and La Push area on page 20. Hope you enjoy them. Kind of wild country around here.

Thank you GG. Your photos are great. I hope you dont mind, but I downloaded a couple. The Marymere waterfall is not the same as the movie, so I joined Twilgihters Anonymous and asked if anyone knows where it is. I will let you know. Take care and thanks again.

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-06-2009

I would be interested in knowing where it is. I know there are some great waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge with Multnomah Falls. or one in Washington Mountains Hmmm! Part two. - I just found a place where someone said it was Multnomah, but no comfirmation that it is correct.

Marian- 02-08-2009

No-one has answered my question on TA.com so I went to imdb.com and joined the Robert pattinson message board. Someone there might know. Right now have to go and do some work on my cv ;angry:

Well, still cant find the name of the waterfall. I'll keep looking. Meantime, Catherine Hardwicke has said that she was offered an obscene about of money to make New Moon, BUT - that she had a smaller budget than that for Twilight and had only 3 1/2 weeks to film. She turned it down, and the Chris Weitz(sp?) who directed Golden Compass is directing, and already the budget has been pushed upwards. ;angry:

Found confirmation about the waterfall from twilightersanonymous.com. I think the poster lives near the Gorge area. Anyway her response to my question was: "That is Multnomah Falls just outside of Gresham Oregon. It's in the Golombia Gorge area, within 10 miles of the View Point Inn, where the prom scene was filmed."

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-16-2009

Thanks Marian, I've been through that area twice and it is quite beautiful. It is about 5 to 6 hours from where I live.

Hi everybody! Sorry it's been so long. I didn't realize it was so busy in this thread. March 21st Twilight comes to dvd - in the States that is. Marian - I'm excited you've joined the Twilight fandom. It's a great series isn't it? You're making me itch to re-read that series again. As for Midnight Sun (Edward's POV of Twilight), I haven't heard anything new about it. I also haven't been keeping very close tabs on the situation. Last I heard anything was Stephenie Meyers saying that it might be quite sometime before she finished the book. And on her website there's the first 12 chapters posted. It's the most compelling read of the series. And that's including Breaking Dawn. I wish she'd write the whole series in Edward's POV, but I don't think she will. But I do want her to hurry up and finish Midnight Sun at least. She stopped just short of the meadow scene and I'm dying to read Edward's side of that. Anyway, I'm happy for you and that you liked the books and the movie. The soundtrack is really amazing too. There are bands on there I'd never heard of before this, but I like the songs. Rob's song is ok, I can't understand a word he says but his voice is really beautiful. Oh and by the way, they're going to be starting filming very soon on New Moon which is supposed to be due out this November. And Summit has already greenlit Eclipse which will be released (tentatively) for June of 2010. Just so you all are in the know! :applaud:

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-22-2009

Thanks Gnat for the info about Eclipse. Glad to see you here.

Yavannie- 02-22-2009

I haven't yet read the whole thread here, but as I just about a week ago got done with reading Breaking Dawn, I wrote a lengthy (and WAY spoilery) entry about Twilight in my journal. Feel free to stop by and comment, it's not a locked entry. I'll not flood this thread with all of it. However, I do feel obliged to warn you that I'm not a 100% convinced by the series... Although I do like it and was entertained by it, for sure.

Shipmate- 02-23-2009

Hey, Gnatty!!!!!!!! Great to see you around! Thanks for the updates on the other movies. Will look forward to seeing them too. MARCH 21st for the dvd,you say? THAT will be fun too, won't it??!!

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-23-2009

Yavannie - I read your journal entry and pretty much agree with everything you said. Great literature - :no no Very addicting - most certainly - in that sense Meyer deserves a  . Because I've done a lot of research on the Olympic Peninsula in the early 1800's. I would love to see a story about the Cullens when they first encountered Jacob's tribe. Now that could be interesting.

Shipmate- 02-23-2009

Oooooo,that WOULD be a cool idea,GG.

Yavannie- 02-24-2009

Gaffer - I'd love to read that story, too! At the moment, I have to confess, I'm devouring the draft of Midnight Sun, though. I'm enjoying the story so much more from Edward's pov. I love the fact that this way I get to know more about the Cullens (just like I loved getting a glimpse of Jacob's thoughts in Breaking Dawn), because honestly, Bella's pov got quite repetitive towards the end. I'm sure Edward's would, too, if Meyer wrote the whole saga again from that side, but for now - I'm enjoying my last bits of unread Twilight. Before the new book comes out, that is. And even then I need to wait till the paperback...

Marian- 03-15-2009

:???:  I was disappointed to read that someone who was trusted by Stephanie Meyer chose to release their (one of a kind) draft copy of partly completed Midnight Sun. :wall: :tsk tsk: According to twilightersanonymous.com, Stephanie had a few variations of Midnight Sun, so she knows exactly who released their version to the internet. Stephanie is now re-thinking about whether to continue to finish the book or not and meantime, all the fans are wanting more. :angry2: In other news, filming starts today, Monday 16th in Vancouver as things (rehearsals, etc) are clicking along so well the cast and crew are ahead of schedule. YAY!!!
