Totally mad for Max!
I managed to buy a copy of 'Happy now' via the German Amazon.com and fortunately it also had the English version. I knew it only in German and I fell in love with Max. The accent he has in HN is just lovely. I watched it twice today and once yesterday and I loved the way it is filmed. I like the music. I thought the story was good. It is funny, scary, and has a well made story build up. But the best thing about it is Ioan as Max. I have often joked before about the coat and the toothpick. But everyone seeing that scene with Max getting out of his car... :thud :whistle He looks great. He is everything I thought he was in that movie. Very shy with the girls, funny and caring with Nicky, firm and though with the men and just plain sexy in between. :cloud9:

I'm happy you managed to watch Happy Now (and in English) and liked it. I loved HN and wish Ioan would do more films of this kind.

I wanna see it!! :)

Got to say HN is my favourite at the moment. He's just perfect in it; playing a complex character, the way he does so well. And such a brooding, unusual tale too. There's your next project, Ioan! Turn Happy Now into a series. It has a real Hamish Macbeth feel about it (I just looooove that one too!) According to AE's latests posts on IMDB ( :whistle ) Ioan has a new project. Wonder when we'll get to hear about it? but then she also says their already married, so..........where's that salt sellar?

Please Stevie, I was talking about Max. Don't bring anyone into the conversation that kills my good spirit. :happy . I was just about to almost remember what it was again that drew me to Ioan. Jeez... now it's gone! :weeping No, wait!!! There is a bright sparkle just on the horizon! What is it? It is.... MAX!!! :sun Btw, Stevie, I agree. Max deserves a series of his own...

There's your next project, Ioan! Turn Happy Now into a series. It has a real Hamish Macbeth feel about it (I just looooove that one too!) Yes, please, someone pick up Happy Now and turn it into a series! I'd be 'glued' to the TV screen whenever an episode is on. :breakdance

This is one I haven't seen, but would love to. That's a terrific picture, Sylviane! According to AE's latests posts on IMDB ( :whistle ) Ioan has a new project. Wonder when we'll get to hear about it? but then she also says their already married, so..........where's that salt sellar? Really, a new project?! That would be great. I wish the source were a little more reliable, but I guess we'll soon find out.

Drats, Sylviane, Now you've REALLY got me wanting to see "Happy Now"!! That picture of Max is super-charged, too! A detective series does sound pretty intriguing, doesn't it? A little bit "Columbo", a little bit "Monk", a little bit James Bond..........how does it go.......stirred but not shakened?!! I sure hope AE isn't kidding around about a new project, too. That would be fun to learn about.

HN is one I still want to see. Sylvianne, Stevie and Frances, you've made me very jealous  , frustrated :wall: , and curious :hmm: . What I saw of Hammish MacBeth was so enjoyable. I loved the tone of it, so that description even more wants to make me watch HN. And the picture :faint . Sylvianne, sounds like you are having your own Ioan film fest. May have to do that myself. GG

Sylvianne, sounds like you are having your own Ioan film fest. May have to do that myself. GG Well, in all honesty, not really a Ioan Film fest. My hubby and daughter were away for a few days and I was feeling terribly lazy. :faint Really did not want to do anything just 'hang' around and watch some of my DVD's So I watched Horatio Hornblower 'the duel' (see review), Very Annie-Mary, The Lost world (see review in Matthew Rhys thread), love actually, 1 episode of Jericho (UK) (The ones with Robert "Pellew" Lindsay) and original Battlestar Galactica movie - 'Saga of a Starworld'. (Now I remember why I was so  with Jamie Bamber. Oh my own beautiful green-eyed Apollo... Lucky for Lee Adama that Archie Kennedy is so hot :happy :cold shower 1 ... so Jamie's forgiven. :hug ) I had ordered some things throught Amazon.com and amongst them was 'Happy Now', which I received Friday, and I suddenly remembered what it was I liked about Ioan. THAT was the Ioan I liked. This morning my hubby and daughter left for a week's holiday in Germany and I do intend to have Matthew Rhys film fest. :mex.wave: Hoping that tomorrow my ordered copy of 'Tabloid' with Matthew will be in the mail...

Gaffer'sGirl- 08-05-2007

That list sounds like a lot of fun. Ioan, Matthew, Jamie - all good. :thumbs up Enjoy! I could use any type of film fest right now. What we need is a smilie that shows someone reclining on the couch and watching their favorites. Have fun. GG

Shipmate- 08-17-2007

:woohoo :woohoo I found a copy of HAPPY NOW and it's being sent to me in a few days! I've wanted to see this one for a long time, and it makes me,......well,...happy now!!!!!!!!!!! My Ioan collection is building slowly, but I'm not doing too badly, I guess, and I'm enjoying myself thoroughly!

Sylviane- 08-17-2007

That's great, Shipmate! Please let us know what you think of the movie. See if you are just as :faint as some of us when it comes to Max (Ohh the toothpick! :thud ) :happy

Gaffer'sGirl- 08-18-2007

Congrats Shipmate. Do let us know what you think. I still haven't seen it yet, but hope to one day. GG
