Today is step 1...
Hi everybody! Boy it's been awfully quiet in here while I've been gone. No news for anybody??? How is everybody enjoying the holiday season thus far? Got your shopping done? Cards sent out? My shopping's done. I finished it the other day and am very happy.
So this morning I went to my local community college to get started on signing up for classes next semester. I went and talked with an advisor about what I need to take and what I need to start. He gave me a list of my gen. ed. classes and his suggestions for what I should take. I'm very happy cuz I found out that I'll only need 1 math class. Yay! However I will need to take 2 science classes. Boo. But one of his suggestions for a physical science class is Oceanography! I think I might take that one cuz it sounds fun! Anyway, so I have to start out by taking an English and Math placement exam. Although he said I could wait until after the holiday break to take the math test (Yay!). I can also put that class off for the time being. I think I might take it next summer though. But he said I should take the English ASAP cuz pretty much everything other than science and math requires Language Proficiency. Which is fine. I think I'll be ok. So I'll be doing that on Monday (since we're supposed to get a nasty storm tonight into tomorrow morning which will likely close the school anyway) and then I can sign up for a couple classes for the spring semester!!!! I'm so so so excited!!!!!!
So today was step 1, Monday will be step 2. :mex.wave: :pink ellie

Gnat, That sounds like a fantastic start for the changes you are making. I hope you enjoy your classes. Oceanography does sound like a lot of fun to study. You should have no problem with the English proficiency test. I hope you are able to pass out of the basic courses and move on to classes you want to take. Let us know what classes you sign up for.

Go, go go, Gnat!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to see how your endeavours turn out. Keep us posted!
(I'm more or less sorted for Christmas, for a change! Nightmare shifts this year, so I've had to get organised. But as I was still off work with my hand last year, I can't really complain!)

Thank you all very much for your well wishes! And yes Gaff, the Language proficiency test proved very good for me. I scored very very well. I was nervous because I wasn't sure while taking it that I had done that particularly well. But I did and am now signed up for Speech (to get that out of the way first because I had giving speeches! ) and Intro to Psychology. My speech class, however, I'm taking with my aunt. So we're both feeling a bit better about it. A little support system for the both of us. Although we've already started talking about how we'll be sitting in the back of the class making fun of those giving their speeches.  Anyway, so it's all been set up. I'm very excited...............I'M OFFICIALLY A COLLEGE STUDENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :applaud: :applaud:
Thanks again everybody for your support and wonderful words of encouragement! I'm really appreciative for all of you. Much :group hug :hug to all of you!

Me, too. I have fond memories of the days when I was at college and my plan is to go back to it as a mature student for another degree when I retire.
