Stevie, yes Aus. is region 4 but I have a multiregion player.
Even though I purchased from Amazon UK my DVD came from an American supplier "Mojosounds- Chula Vista". So go to Amazzon UK and check the region out before giving up!
Cost was (and I kid you not!!) 2.91 pounds. The shipping cost me more!

I know the feeling Stevie, I know the feeling!
I remember seeing this. *****SPOILER ALERT****I liked the car scene too when Lennie was talking about the near death experience. Lenny said," "s*** was flying everywhere!". And Ioan was like "oh dear!" or something like that and I just cracked up. Ioan really looked like he believed that she had a soul and had learned something important from this ordeal (which of course she hadn't). I liked the Lennie character for some reason.
I was over the moon for a few seconds, when I saw that Amazon.com has the TV Set available for download. Then I realised it was only in US, where you can buy the DVD anyway - where's the sense in that??????
I was about to say that downloading the movie is cheaper than buying the DVD, but then I checked and discovered that there is not much difference in price between downloading the movie and buying the DVD... less than 3 US$ (considering the shipping fee)... It can even be cheaper to buy the DVD, if buy a used copy...
I do hope they get smart and put this DVD out for your region.
Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere, but I just saw on Empire Online that The TV Set will get a Region 4 release on February 20.
Region 4? Isn't that Australia's region? *stares* Oooh...
Finally saw The TV Set when I rented it a few months ago. Thought it was overall OK. Liked Ioan in it still. His wife's character was too unlikable and one-dimensional for my tastes. Didn't enjoy how the look into his life outside work -- asking his son to view the pilot like Sigourney's daughter did, meeting the soccer mom -- went nowhere. Seemed clumsy to insert those scenes. He had some nice suits in this picture.
I'm glad someone else got to see this movie.
I think the director left those scenes in with the intent on showing that Richard was gradually being sucked into this ridiculous method that Sigourney's character was using to choose which TV shows to develope. His integrity was being corrupted.
I do wish if they were going to cover the area of how the change from BBC to Hollywood was going to effect Richard's life that they would have done it more thoroughly. That would have meant more Ioan for us and made it a bit more clear. I'm sure budget considerations probably had an effect on the end result. Overall though, I really liked the movie and thought Ioan's performance showed he can do some forms of comedy well.
