Yes ladies, it has been confirmed that The Secret of Moonacre will be playing at the Toronto International Film Festival coming up in early September! I had already booked flights and hotels to attend the festival before I even knew it might play there, so when I got the schedual last night I found it will be playing twice, once the DAY before I get there, and again the exact evening of the day I leave. I am soooo very sad that my plans do not coinside with the films debut. And now there is no way for me to reschedual my flights or hotel bookings as it is too close to the event.
Looks like I wont get to be one of the rare lucky ones who has the oppertunity to see one of Ioan's movies early, or possibly even see Ioan in person. I still have hopes that he will be around longer at the festival and I'll get to catch a glance of him around Toronto. Perhaps grabbing coffee? lol. Maybe I can persuade him to even join me in my side-trip to Niagara Falls (about an hour away...) hrmmm... wouldn't THAT be nice!!!
Haha, wish me luck on that one!
I'll be in Toronto from September 7th-13th... and of course I will let everyone here know if I spot Ioan out and about. (yes, I'm bringing a camera!)
StevieT- 08-27-2008
How frustrating, Amethyst! If you do spot Ioan, be sure and send our love :love2: but don't get too near the edge of the Falls with him, will you? I know we always fancied him as Mr. Darcy.......but not that wet!!!! :drowning
Amethyst_Goddess- 08-27-2008
Yes, its very frustrating... I keep going through the booklet I received of the movie listings just to make sure it wasn't a misprint, just in case. lol.
I think if anyone were to end up in the water, it'd be me to cool off from seeing Ioan. LOL! Of course, he could save me like he did Rose in Titanic :love2: And with all the mist in the air at the falls we both would end up with wet clothes... clothes that would need to be taken off so we dont catch a cold.... hrmmmm... off to the alley for me!
(Btw, Stevie, you and everyone else here can call me Amanda.)

Hi Amanda, I'm sorry the dates didn't work for your getting to see TSOM,but I'm sure you'll have a beautiful trip anyway! Have fun, keep the camera at the ready, and take some funshots for us to see-----no matter what, okay? Love, Ship
Gaffer'sGirl- 08-27-2008
Oh that would be so frustrating. But having a camera is a good idea because you never know who you will see at film festivals. hope you have loads of fun.

Shipmate- 09-05-2008
Hi Mn/mg, Have missed seeing you for a long time! Good to know you're still around. You might like to try reading the book this movie is based upon-----"The Little White Horse", it gives a really neat description of the bedroom and all the surroundings of the characters. I'm looking forward to seeing how closely the film comes to the book. See ya 'round, Ship :Horatio wink:

Thanks for the tip, Annee.
Here's the direct link to the Toronto Film Festival site where the trailer is visible. It is listed on page 3. Ioan looks great. Many of the supporting characters are as I pictured them when I read the book. I know they've made some story and character changes, but I still look forward to it.

Thanks for the links, ladies! Ioan does indeed look and sound great! Roll on release!
Shipmate- 09-10-2008
Just got through watching the above trailer twice. Ioan looks his typically very fine self, and from what I saw---the film looks like a lot of fun! (Some story content changes, but I can live with that!!) Do read the book,y'all,if you get the chance. Think you'll like it ! :)
Gaffer'sGirl- 09-10-2008
I agree wi th that Ship. The book takes you back to the fantasy of childhood, but also has a little meat on its bones. I'm not too worried about a few plot changes. And I'd rather look as Ioan as Sir Benjamin than the way he was described in the book.
