Will do! IMDb Pro lists the locations as Croyden in Surrey (on the outskirts of London) and Elstree Studios in Herts (also on the outskirts of London.) Ah, so near and yet so far...... :dance

I felt that way when he was filming in Vancouver. Or when I lived in Orange County and found out he had moved to LA some fifty miles away. Aaahh! Oh well.

Thanks to annee@ioanalice for this extra bit of news... Producer Judith Hunt from Tin House said: "The Kid is the inspiring and captivating story of a boy who has transcended suffering and circumstance. I was confident I would be able to attract a passionate and enthusiastic team to bring it to fruition." Gary Smith, the chief executive of Intandem Films, which will handle worldwide sales, says: "The response to The Kid has been encouraging and though distributors are being prudent in the current economic climate this is a film we're sure the public will want to see." :fingcross: distributors see sense! Ioan seems so right for this one (I wonder if Alice will feel well enough to come too, maybe get some good old home pampering from in-laws while he works  )

Sounds like a great situation all around, doesn't it? I would guess it would be a fairly economical film to do also. Maybe.

Shooting begins this Monday for eight weeks.... http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/search/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003965236

Ioan may have a much shorter shooting schedule since his character influenced the main character when he was a student. Ship might know if the character shows up throughout "The KId's" life.

Shipmate- 04-23-2009

Not all that often really, but they may make some adaptations. It's so good to see filming getting started. Ioan's character,Colin Smith, does have a very real and lasting impact on young Kevin's life. No doubt, this film has potential to raise some very good opportunities for all kinds of discussions on family/social services issues,world-wide,I think.

Gaffer'sGirl- 04-23-2009

Thanks Ship for answering that question. I'll bet Ioan having a shorter shooting schedule will be nice for them right now. A quality job without having to be gone for weeks or months.

Shipmate- 04-23-2009

I wish him well with the shooting----but for myself, selfishly,I know----I hope he has a LOT of screentime!

Gaffer'sGirl- 04-23-2009

Oh, of course I do, too. I think Ioan's likely the type who is going to have a very hard time leaving home once that baby comes.

Shipmate- 04-23-2009

Uh-huh. I think so too.

StevieT- 04-23-2009

Na, he'll just pack it up and take it with him!" :Baby Angel; (have Gruffudd wings, will travel!)

Gaffer'sGirl- 04-23-2009

Well, I'm sure there will have to be trips to see the Grandparents and soak in Welsh culture.

Shipmate- 04-23-2009

That sounds so cool for them, doesn't it,though?! How very nice.
