Yup, crazeeeee weather here too! Wales and the West Country are really getting bashed - it's just miserable up here :???:
Sorry to hear you are getting hit with bad weather. We've been very fortunate this year with only one short stretch of really bad weather.
I just watched this again last evening and probably paid a little more attention to other elements than I did the last time - in which I must admit - I was mostly watching for Ioan.
So surprise  a few of the elements made a little more sense to me. I do wish they had left the missing ten minutes in for the American audiences and not just for the scene we'd all love to see as there were a few times where cuts seemed abrupt.
Watching it again, I realized how subtle Ioan's performance was in this. On first watching he just seems subdued and emotionless compared to some of his other performances. This time I could see more clearly how he knew Cassie when they first met and that he was friendly, if overly calm. Well that calm works well for the personality of someone caught up in watching and not action.
*****SPOILER ALERT******
When it comes to the moment of truth, it is a subtle, but appropriate shift. He is not a purely evil character, so there is no overt nastiness. The fear comes from the knowledge that he is no longer a source of help, but of inaction. That he will do nothing against evil, so is therefore complicit with the evil deeds. He will seduce another into believing that inaction is acceptable.
The conclusion that I came to was that though the movie itself had some faults, Ioan's performance was very good for that character. When compared to his emotional intensity in some other roles (Lancelot, VAM, or GE) this may seem a more walk through performance. But it is not. Though not the most fun of his performances to watch, it is very appropriate to the material and character.
And he looks great in those sweaters or jumpers.
Wish I could have said it as well,GG. I agree-----mmm,and about the sweaters, too!
