If anyone would like anymore information on the Forsyte saga family tree i have a book with a family tree in the front of it.
Just in case anyone can catch it, Gina McKee is playing a blinder in a series on BBC1 at the moment. It's called The Street and is written by Jimmy McGovern (always interesting). The drama focusses on a different family's circumstances in each episode and is always riveting!
A blinder? One of those "across the seas" needs a translation.
'Playing a blinder' translates as being amazing, astounding, excellent etc. I suppose it might come from being 'dazzling' on the football (soccer) field?
Sorry, I forget that colloquialisms can confuse.
"Two nations divided by a common language." GB Shaw. How right he was!
I'm in the mood to watch The Forsyte Saga for a second time. I don't own it so i'll have to NetFlix it again. Of course I adore Ioan... :naughty but after seeing Damian Lewis in TFS, and recently on his new show LIFE, I want to watch his character also. I've really started to become a fan of his.
I like Damian in Life, also. Have fun viewing.
I was totally taken by the relationship between Damien and Ioan's characters in Warriors, too.
Now that I have finally watched Warriors all the way through - I can say I totally agree. I'd like to see them act together again.
I agree with you, ladies, that Damian Lewis is a very good actor and I'd like to see him act with Ioan again as they seem to take the best out each other. They were simply perfect in their parts in Warriors and did an excellent job in The Forsyte Saga.
Lewis was so petulant and disagreeable to me in "Forsyte Saga", and I loved to hate him. His role in "Warriors" was definitely a departure from that! He's a fine actor when he can stir up his audience that much.
I have a very, very short clip of the two of them together when they were doing a magazine photo shoot around the time of Forsyte Saga. Wish they'd have interviewed them together. That would have been interesting to see the interaction.
Yeah, I'll bet it would...
Looks to me because of the banner and what is written that the blogger's usual topics are comic superhero type of things. It sounds like the writer was responding to someone's recommendation to watch TFS. From the complimentary wording of the performances, it doesn't sound like the writer disliked The Forsyte Saga or Ioan's performance, but was using a clever and sarcastic twist to show how an accurately portrayed Victorian drama deals with plot points and characters vs. a Sci-fi comic. Just two totally different types of stories.
Agreed, GG. I think he enjoyed the drama - it's really quite witty! (and oh how I wish Phil could have stretched himself away from that cart!)
