The Epic WAR OF THE PENNIES!!!!
All right guys, the gloves have come off! I am not sure If I am bending the board rules here, but I figure I would post anyway. My school is having a Penny War for one of my favorite charities, Heifer International. A PENNY WAR is a competition to see who can get the most pennies, but you can sabotage the other team by putting any siver coinage or bills in the jar. It adds to the total amount but negates the pennies. So say you have $2 of pennies in there and someone throws in a dollar bill or 4 quarters. You have $3 all together but it kills the presence of 100 pennies. We. The GDA students and teachers, are at war with the CNS students and teachers. It is all my fault. some weeks ago, the perky student services team pulled us out of class one at a time, totally wreaking our lab work time, to interview us in the "get to know the new students!" program. They asked us about ourselves, clubs, ideas for fun things and charities. I mentioned how I used to go out to San Diego to Weekend on the Promonade and have a private weekend with the 95% of the cast from Deep Space Nine -- geek that I was. Everything we did went to charities and one of my favorite charities is Heifer International. I found out about through the events since they listed the charites the procedes went to. The girl at student services never heard about it but was intriqued so she googed them and gave them a call. They sent info packages to the school and they were a big hit with the admistrative staff. Its a cool charity. Then she organized a Penny War with the proceeds going to Heifer International. The deparment that gets the most pennies wins a week of dress down. High Stakes, man. Its gotten ugly! But we cheated first. Sad to say: One very pretty girl from my department suckered silver out of our competition (saying that she had forgot her wallet, blah, blah, ) and put it in THEIR jar to sabotage the penny amount....and then did it again. She's better be pretty! I can't believe they fell for it...twice. In retaliation, the other department walked up to our jar (its now a bucket) and put over $60 in 20's to kill our penny amount. Our department head just gave a pep talk. Apparently last year during a similar charity war, they kidnapped the competition's department head's favorite chair. Took pics of it tied up in various places in the school. Sent a sound bit of it screaming for him to pay the randsom. so -- Its our department (GDA) against CNS (the networking students. We both have buckets now instead of little jars and its heating up. My department head asked me if I could get CRIME SCENE tape. God only knows what this man is plotting, Now all our campuses country wide are getting interested on the outcome. THis is the largest amount to be raised by the school in its history. And it all goes to one of favorite celebratie charities! I am very proud that I have caused so much havoc! So my fellow ioan fans, after receiving a massive hit of sabotage on our penny bucket, I am asking for donations via my paypal account so that I can a.) win a week of wearing jeans to class and b.) raising the most money that my school has ever made in a charity event which goes to one of my personal favorite. you are, of course, not under any obligation whatsoever. So if you would like to help the GDA department win a whole week of jeans (trust me this is big stakes here), then go onto the paypal site, go to the SEND MONEY tab, put in my email without the * and donate what you would like. https://www.paypal.com/ my email is darkautumnleaves*@gmail*.com Your donations will be converted into Pennies for our bucket. The deadline is this Wednesday night by 11:30pm EST. For more infomation on Heifer International, go to their site at http://www.heifer.org/site/c.edJRKQNiFiG/b.183217/ Thank you in advance! mim

I admit that I had no clue what Heifer International is till now. Live and learn. I like the idea of turning a fund raising into a sort of game. I'll keep 'penny wars' in mind to propose in case I'm involved in a fund raiser for a charity.
