The Dark Knight
I can't wait to see this movie!! It looks so good and the cast esp. Christian Bale is amazing! I loved the 1st one (Batman Begins), the storyline was wonderful and now after 3 yrs I will finally get to see what happens to Bruce Wayne :)
I'm going to try & see it on Friday when it comes out if possible. Anyone else excited to see it??
Gaffer'sGirl- 07-15-2008
So far I've heard only good things about this movie. It does sound very promising.
GNAT0629- 07-16-2008
Cherry - I'm with you on this one all the way! I've already bought my ticket for Friday night. I'm going with my mom, my 2 aunts and my cousin. It was shot primarily here in Chicago so it's doubly exciting. I remember them shooting last year, I work downtown. They used the old post office for something and I work only about 3 blocks north of there. I love that for the 2nd time they've used Chicago as Gotham. :applaud: :applaud:
But I really do like Christian Bale and think he's the best Batman. I don't care how much of a debate this starts, but I never ever bought into Michael Keaton as Batman. Michael Keaton is Mr. Mom and Beetlejuice. Sorry!

Seeing the sites of the area you work in should make it even more fun to watch. You should make sure you add that to the films shot in your area thread. It's still around somewhere in Games or Non-Ioans. I hope I can get someone to go with me as it makes it more fun with a movie like Batman. Many movies I like to see by myself, but movies like this are better with a friend.
And I'm with y'all on Christian Bale. Like him very much.

Hey Gaff I think I did actually. Because of the first (Christian Bale) Batman being shot in Chicago. Believe me, I'm pretty sure I know every movie made in and around the Chicago area. Mainly because we don't have many.
But I do agree that I think this is a movie to be seen with many people.

GNAT0629 - I hope you have a SUPER time Friday night!! I'm sure you will! :) I still don't know if we are going to the midnight show tonight or some other time Friday but I can't wait!! I haven't been this excited over a movie since the last Pirates movie came out!! I totally love the whole cast. Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Maggie G (I'm so happy they got her instead of Katie), and Heath Ledger!!! :)
Gaffer'sGirl - Hopefully you can find a bunch of friends to go with you. I'm sure you won't have a problem :)
CherryCokeGrl- 07-18-2008
I got to go to the first showing at Midnight last night!! I'm so glad I did. I'm very tired because we didn't get in bed till 4am but it was sooo worth it!! I don't want to give anything away but you guys have to go see this movie!! One of the best movies/sequals I have EVER seen!! :) The cast, storyline, costumes, music, and everything was TOP NOTCH!!
Have a fantastic time tonight GNAT0629!!

Cherry - you are a girl after my own heart! I was that excited about Pirates3 last year as well. And also the 5th Harry Potter movie. But I'm glad you enjoyed it! I am reading nothing but amazing reviews from both critics and people who went to see it. I have never known a movie to have such unanymous positive feedback from critics most especially. Ever!
I can't wait! T minus 7 hours and 20 minutes.....................
Gaffer'sGirl- 07-18-2008
Have a lot of fun, Gnat. My family has relatives coming this weekend so no to very little chance for me going. Maybe next week sometime.
GNAT0629- 07-21-2008
Gaff - it's probably best to wait for the crowds to die down anyway.
BUT...........you HAVE TO see this movie!!!! It's a definite DON'T MISS! Especially on the big screen. It's beautifully shot, the visuals were amazing! I love that Chicago is Gotham City and there were so many shots in the movie that reminded me of last summer when they were filming here! The scene at the beginning (which was a bank robbery set in the old Chicago Post Office) was shot 3 blocks south of my work. And I swear there was at least one time I saw my building! Anyway, when people described Heath Ledger as "frightening" as the Joker - they were NOT kidding! He was scary, terrifying, funny, psychotic.........all around the scariest version of the Joker that's ever been portrayed. Jack Nicholson has NOTHING on Heath Ledger. In fact, I would not be surprised if they never made another casting for this role ever again in any future filmings of Batman. He was truly amazing. It still makes me sad that he's not here to witness all of this. Most definitely the biggest movie of his career. And in my personal opinion, it would have changed his career. It would have catapolted (sp?) him straight to superstardom as quick as anything. In fact, it has to be said that I had a hard time even believing that this was Heath Ledger behind all the makeup. His voice was so completely different, it was really a totally different person all together. Wonderful performance! Nobody will ever top this. The story was great. I still love Christian Bale as Batman - he's still my pick as best Batman. OH! And it has to be said that the Harvey Dent storyline is gutwrenching! If you don't know who Harvey Dent is, I will not spoil it for you. But let me say that I view Aaron Eckhart in a whole new light as an actor. He was superb!!!! Really top notch acting by the whole cast. But I mean, what can you say against Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman??? You can't.
Overall this was the best movie of the year. The best Batman movie period. And by far the best comic book movie. One of the best movies of all time! The hype is truly deserved. Most movies don't live up to the hype that surrounds it - but this one definitely does! If you haven't gone to see it yet - RUN to the theater! And if anybody has seen it and would like to discuss in further detail without spoiling it for others who haven't seen it - feel free to PM me. And if anybody saw it on IMAX, please tell me what that was like!!

Very well said GNAT0629!!! And I agree with you also on Aaron Eckhart's performance!! He was amazing!! Right up there with Christian & Heath! I hope this movie will sweep the awards! :) They truly deserve it :) My sister wanted to go see it again so we went to the last showing last night. IT WAS PACKED!!! I wasn't bored at all and I still jumped AGAIN in certain parts, LOL :) I noticed the 2nd time around that the movie seemed even darker this time. It is definitely NOT a kids movie. So glad you got to see it!! I bet that was very cool seeing your city up there as Gotham :)
Gaffer'sGirl- 07-21-2008
I'm looking forward to this. You can both discuss plot particulars here on IZ as long as you put in a clear SPOILER ALERT and some space. I'd enjoy seeing some of your discussion once I've seen it and will hopefully participate.
GNAT0629- 07-22-2008
Cherry - I will also be going to see it again in another week. One of my aunts couldn't go with us Friday night so I told her I'd see it with her. I just can't believe how well made this movie was. I've never experienced a movie like this, where there's absolutely nothing for me to complain about. There's nothing in this movie that I would change. Not the casting, the acting, the visuals, the story, the directing.......none of it. All was superb!
StevieT- 07-22-2008
I hope to see this very soon, too - maybe this week! Chicago must have some real character - there's another one on my wishlist.....
CherryCokeGrl- 07-22-2008
It really was a PERFECT movie!! :) I sure hope they make another... I can't wait to see more!
