Hey Stevie welcome back sweetie!!! :bye:  What do you mean Chicago's your next?? Your next place to visit??? Oh you should!!! I think you'd love and appreciate all the history, the cultures that coexist and most especially the architecture. It's one of the biggest reasons people come here to visit, not to mention Hollywood as well. They love the architecture here. It's so varied! Plus, selfishly speaking, I'd love to meet you! Take you for some good Chicago pizza! Cherry - I'm with you on that, I hope there's another! And I hope they come back to Chicago for it.

Hey,you guys are good PR people, you know it?! :rotf: Don't know when I'm going to see this film, but you've got my curiosity up for it,I will say THAT!

Gaffer'sGirl- 07-23-2008

Well, I did go to see it last night , but ended up with a front row seat. Quite uncomfortable after a hike in the Olympics earlier in the day. I agree that performances all around were really great. I was surprised a few times, the story kept movie and the look was perfect. I'm not a huge fan of the Batman movies, so I usually watch them once. I'm not usually a repeat viewer. Christopher Nolan has added a great deal to the series while still fitting in with what has gone before. I was surprised by some of the casting in the smaller roles with Eric Roberts and Anthony Michael Hall. Didn't know they were in the movie.

Thanks, Gnat! :hug Chicago is definitely on my wishlist of places of visit. I have this plan in the back of my head......a whistlestop tour of the US, dropping in on all my friends and sampling all the lovely things you talk about. Might take a few years, bt I'm a mighty determined person when I get my teeth into something!

Gaffer'sGirl - Glad you enjoyed it!! Christopher Nolan did a super job!! Yeah, it sounds like you had a pretty bad spot to view the film. When we went our 2nd time we ended up with 3rd row since it was so packed. After 2 and a half hrs my neck and back felt all kinked from having to look straight up at the screen. StevieT - That sounds like a wonderful plan!! I may have to start making a list of my own of places I want to visit & friends I would love to see. I hope you get to do it one of these days :)

I'm a bit late adding to this post, but I have two words... AWESOME MOVIE! I saw the midnight premiere of this film and wow!! I loved it!! The entire cast was superb. I can't say one negative thing concerning this movie. Heath stole the movie! He was truly amazing  Like someone mentioned previously, he got so into character you didn't even notice "Heath." I've seen it twice and will definitely buy the DVD upon release. Hope they add lots of extras. Aaron Eckhart did a great job too in the movie. If you can, go see this film! On a side note, those of you who have seen the film might enjoy this spoof on the movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2yv8aT0UFc I was laughing so hard :rotf:

Gaff - yeah I can imagine that was very uncomfortable. We had really good seats, not too close but not too far in the back. We were directly in the middle of the row too. I've been that close in a theater once and I agree - it sucks. No matter what the movie. But I'm glad you enjoyed it. I know there's been a ton of people who never got into the Batman movies who wanted to see this. Mainly, of course, because of Heath Ledger. But it was well worth it wasnt' it??? I think Nolan's vision of this story was impecable. He's great!! Stevie - I love your plan!!! I do hope you come here soon. I would love to play hostess to your tour of Chicago. Even if it's only one day downtown, we could take a boat tour on the river or a bus tour (we have the double decker buses that you guys used to have in London) around the city. There's just so much to see here! Neighborhoods, museums, ball parks (you HAVE to see Wrigley Field if for nothing else the history - it's the second oldest ball park in the US), bars, shopping and just like I said before the architecture of the city. Oh but if you can see if you can come during the summer - there's TONS of things going on; festivals and such!

StevieT- 07-24-2008

Sounds fab, Gnat! I'll take you up on that offer as soon as pennies allow! :hug meanwhile, I'll have to make do with Dark Knight.....

Gaffer'sGirl- 07-24-2008

I've been through Chicago a few times and it is a city with great charm and many exciting things to see (if a bit windy  ). I hope I can really tour it someday, too. My view of the movie was not fun at all, but I'm glad I got to see it. In the last three days, I've seen The Dark Knight, Mamma Mia and Wall-E and TDK is the best made of the three. It would not surprise me if it is nominated for several Oscars.

GNAT0629- 07-25-2008

Gaff - it would be awesome if you could come out here too! I know you've been, but there's so much to see and I don't know when you were here last........but I'm sure there's been many changes as this city truly never stops evolving. And I've heard really great things about Washington and Oregon. I've heard it's beautiful there. I must come your way sometime. I've never been anywhere out West and would like to see some of it. I don't have much interest in California so Washington and/or Oregon will have to do it! I want to see the place where Goonies was filmed!!!!! :happy But anytime any of my fellow YoZoners would like to come to Chicago, please let me know! I'd love to take time out to explore some of the sites with you.

Gaffer'sGirl- 07-25-2008

That's the same for me and Washington. I'd love to be a tour guide for any IZers. I could do much of California, too (if I got back down there). Gnat, I do hope I can get back that way in the next several years. If I'm ever able to get back to Northern Indiana to see relatives, I'll definitely make a stop in Chicago.

marthe- 07-26-2008

The film is now to be seen in the cinema in Belgium. There is a lot of publicity for that movie. I only know Heath Ledger. I saw some parts of the movie on tv, as they make publicity for it, and I loved it. I will go and see the movie during my holidays.

JeepGirl83- 07-26-2008

Hope you enjoy the movie, Marthe

Gaffer'sGirl- 07-26-2008

Let us know what you think, Marthe.

GNAT0629- 07-28-2008

Well it was #1 at the box office again, easily outperforming any other movie bringing in another $75+ million. It's already crossed the threashold of $300 million domestically - in 10 days time. Fas-*test*-('") movie to do it. They're saying this could finally be the movie to topple TITANIC's domestic gross of more than $600 million. I wouldn't doubt it! They're getting a lot of repeat viewers, not to mention people who waited for the crazy crowds to die down the weekend it opened. Plus all the word of mouth reviews from those that have seen it. I'm going to see it again this weekend - YAY!!!!
