Spring Time Fitness
Anyone else out there getting out into the great outdoors now that summer and warm weather is nearly here.? Well, at least for us Northern Hemisphere types.
I took a twelve mile bike ride on Wednesday and today I rode for eighteen miles. Most of the ride was through the countryside and included a few tough hills, but I never gave up even when I slowed to a snail's crawl.
Someone I know biked through the Cotswolds - that would be fun to do someday. Maybe I'll put it on my bucket list.

I'm not a sporty type, but I'm taking longer walks now that the weather is warm than I did when it was cold.

I enjoy walks, too. I have to do something to get in shape since I can't run anymore. I'd like to walk/jog a marathon someday.

Hi everybody!!! I haven't been here in a long time.... some school stuff, lots of kid stuff (Ah, teenage boys) :bricks I was in a community theater production :happydance: and I just had knee surgery. :nurse (The play didn't help much... there was dancing :pink ellie in it!!!) Now that I am over the flu (not piggy flu) that I got 3 days after surgery, I am finally ready to walk in short interval a few times a day. :woohoo Out here I can only seem to find a few times to do it... we have LOTS of rain!!!!! :cold shower 1
Hope you all are well!!!

I had knee surgery three years ago for a torn (in two places) meniscus. It took a little while to feel better, but as you can read it helped a lot. I did another 15 mile ride this week down by the water.
I hope your knee recovers soon and well. Take it easy, don't push it and do you physical therapy. Glad you are over the flu. What was the play?

GG,
I am so happy to hear that you are riding so far after a very similar sounding surgery (meniscus, both sides of my right knee) Although I feel SOOOO much better than before the surgery, I can't help but wonder when I will be back to 'normal' every time I one-leg it up the stairs...
And the play was Oliver!

Great play!
I remember one legging it up the stairs to a job interview. My job requires me to be on my feet and very physical eight hours a day and my knee survives very well most days. Every now and then if I abuse it, I have to ice it or give it a rest. I know what you mean about it feeling so much better. If I went through a store, my knee would sieze up and I'd hobble around using the cart for support.
One word of caution - I started working at my physical job within a month of my surgery, probably would have been smarter to wait just a little longer or ease into it more gradually, thinking about it in hindsight.

Unfortunately, I had to be back at work in 12 days and I am a 2nd grade teacher! I am on my feet all the time. (I once told my class that I was going to give them their spelling test sitting down because my knee hurt, and by the 4th word, one student said " Excuse me, Mrs. N, you DO know you are walking around, don't you?" I was so unaware...
But now summer is here and I have never needed it more! I can stay off it when I need to and still walk and exercise to strengthen it!!!
Happy upcoming 4th, BTW

I'm happy to hear your surgery went well, Snogg. Hope that summer holidays and the break from school will give you the time to fully recover from it.

Thank you all for your good wishes! I really had been out of touch for a while. If you remember any of my past entries, I will fill you in on my family.
Husband is doing well...
Son is communicating, graduating and in a NY State college in the fall. Daughter is currently in regional theater (High School Musical 2) and enrolled in a 2 year musical theater program in NYC that begins in October.
I was so unhappy once last summer... things are so much better now. Faith and friends are wonderful things.
Thanks for all your support!
