Getting wide distribution(in the U.S.) is a difficult for an independent company like Walden Media to begin with, but when the film isn't associated with a well known book like Narnia or Terabithia or with a well known company like Disney, it becomes even harder. So, unless a film has a big time distributor who is willing to do a little arm twisting behind the scenes, many theaters won't or can't afford to screen a small, independent film without a lot of advertising bucks behind it. Likely they were hoping a smaller, intense opening with full theaters would open up other theaters to screening it. Certainly, AG got enough distribution and adveritising to produce interest and motivate DVD Sales and I think many people are discovering it through friends who have seen it.

Nice comment on AG. :) ********** 3. Amazing Grace An inspiring movie, although younger viewers might not be so enthused by it. I don't know, maybe it's the whole historical element to it. Ioan Gruffud was excellent as William Wilberforce though, portrayed a real strong masculine and Godly character. Also notable was Romola Garai, as his wife (more accurately, in the movie it was future-wife), who really defied the modern views of what it means to be a woman, she portrayed a woman who was a great helper and supporter of her then future-husband's cause. She wasn't downtrodden, but she had a strong mind of her own. I dare say it was the closest i've ever come to seeing a true Biblical marriage on the cinema screens, or at least as far as i've noticed anyway. ********** http://funkymonkeyme.blogspot.com/2008/06/personal-opinions-disguised-as-reviews.html

I had to smile reading "Ioan Gruffud pronounced Ian Griffin", but I liked this blog entry. Thanks for sharing, Annee. The blogs about AG always intrigue me. :) I hope you'll be able to see the movie, too.

Gaffer'sGirl- 06-29-2008

Yes, you should watch it Annee. It is one of Ioan's best. I just watched it again the other night. I guess the people writing the blog don't check names very closely as Romola became Ramona.
