Snow days
Ok I know many of you will be dealing with or have dealt with a lot more snow than us, but this is the UK. I can't remember ever having a snow day from school so this makes up for it. A snow day from work. Can't get the car off the drive let alone up the hill I live on. It looks fantastic. Up to 9 inches in some places which has brought the country to a stand still. No buses, no trains, can't drive. woo hoo. Have fun if you've got snow. :cold:

We've got snow here in the North East. Fortunately I'm on holiday this week. It looks beautiful from inside, but unfortunately this time the snowfall is accompanied by driving arctic winds, which make it unpleasant to be outside. I love to be in out in the snow when it's crisp and bright and still. (plus, now I'm doing my 'in charge' stint, I'm thinking about staffing and people not being able to get in to work......sad, isn't it????)

It snowed in my part of Italy yesterday, though not enough to have a snow day from work or school today.

Also a lot of snow in Belgium, but not enough to stay at home. I went for a little walk with Rex when I got home at noon. He had a lot of fun and I took some pictures. I will send them. I also saw in the news that England, France and Italy got a lot of snow ! And how is it in America ?

the snowfall is accompanied by driving arctic winds, which make it unpleasant to be outside. We're lucky down south we haven't got the artic winds and it is really nice to walk in it. Although the kids are now using my road as a sledge run.

We're going through a pretty quiet time, weather wise. Just dreary clouds most of the time. Above freezing with occasional sunshine. I'll take it. Hope your snow doesn't inconvience you too much.

Glad to hear you have holiday,Stevie. Where I am the sky is cloudless, and the temp is pretty mild at the moment. That's not to say, however, tomorrow won't be just the opposite, believe me.

We actually hit 50F. today. I went outside with just a sweater, no winter jacket. Hurrah! Almost shorts and t-shirt weather here. Most of our summer hovers around 60F. If we get to 70F, people start complaining about the heat - perfect weather if you ask me.

marthe- 02-03-2009

Gaff that is not so much 60 in summer. I also prefer 70-75F in summer. 80 is too much. But a lot of people here like 85F. Bah. According to what I read about the Olympic Peninsula, you have a mild climate. Thanks to the protection of the moutains, the temperature rarely reaches freezing point and in summer it is never warmer than 80F. That is my dream, not to warm and a beatiful nature.

Our snow has disapeared, to be replaced by driving winds and rain, bt only in my immediate area it seems - even other parts of Newcastle, and certainly the rest of Britain still have considerable snow. I think it's something to do with being in a dip by the river :dunno

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-03-2009

Rain and wind are my least favorite weather as it almost feels colder than snow. Marthe, it is very temperate here due to the mountain effect. Very rarely extremely cold and if it hits 80F, it lasts only a couple of days.

marthe- 02-04-2009

Thanks Gaff, like I said, I love your climate, more than the warm countries. In Belgium there is always rain. If you have a warm summer like in 2006, you are lucky. But as the weather is not reliable in Belgium, most of the people go on holiday abroad where it is very warm. But that is certainly not for me and Andre.

Gaffer'sGirl- 02-04-2009

I just spent some vacation time here at home - getting my house set up. Not exciting, but well spent.

Nicolette- 02-04-2009

Here where I live there is no snow (I like snow). Temperature around +14°C. Lot of rain, more than usual.

StevieT- 02-04-2009

Nic, my son has just spent 2 weeks skiing in the French Alps - tons of snow up there (I'm so jealous!). :cold:
