Aren't these nice though?! Love that first one,ahh the pink flowers.....there they are...hooray (the book brings them out so prettily)-----and the riding boots he's wearing! The costumes in this film are shaping up to be what I thought they'd be. Splendid! He looks so trim and gorgeous in the second one----the coat is beautiful too. --------------- I LOVE the "Hornblower-esque" exhaling through the lips one further down as well!!!!! S-i-i-i-g-g-g-h-h-h-h-h-h-h.................

Oh my Goodness! We're missing out on this. Not fair! Not fair! I'll trade you The TV Set and W for this. This looks like a wonderful role for Ioan. Can't believe that won't release it in the U.S. Lovely pictures. Thank you!
Tonight I saw Inkheart with a mostly British cast and Brendan Fraser in the lead. Now, I like Brendan Fraser, but I thought Ioan could have done a wonderful job in the role. With his vocal range and tones I could see and hear him reading a book into existence, but then we probably wouldn't have gotten to see it.

Ah, GG! Bitterness doth not become thee........ :hug and :fingcross: for the US getting the film in some form.

Wow, those pics are quite a sight!
Thanks for sharing, Stevie.

No, it doesn't, but it upsets me that the presumption is people won't watch or enjoy an actor because of an accent. As a nation of immigrants, we are accustomed to hearing accented English all the time. It's just so very frustrating.
We have a new show this season called Eleventh Hour. It is based on a series I saw on BBCAmerica. In fact, the show I saw the script was almost verbatim, except for location. Why couldn't they use the already made British show? Probably based on familiar locations and accents. Now, the part I find ironic - Rufus Sewell is the lead, but he doesn't use his British accent, he uses an American one. Personally, I find Rufus Sewell enjoyable to watch, but it just seems funny.
Now, you are getting Law and Order with Jamie Bamber. How much you want to bet the the scripts are recycled from the American show.
Sometimes, it just seems silly. Although I guess it gives more actors work. I guess because I write, I wish they would allow for more original series. Already so much prime time is taken up with reality shows - rehashing already written stuff leaves little room for new creativity. :angry2: Rant over.
Thanks, I do hope we get to see this. And I'm glad somebody got to, unlike Fireflies.

May I resoundingly re-echo your comments,GG? Don't get me started on paragraphs one and three!! Bitterness,I don't know,----more,for ME, like frustration at "the powers that be",that's all. By the way, that show "Eleventh Hour" is really good. I watch every week, and Rufus Sewell is a total manly specimen in that role-----accent or not,it wouldn't matter-----the stories are good!!!!!

I work a lot in the evening, but when I've caught Eleventh Hour, I have enjoyed it. And I'd rather watch Rufus Sewell than the guy in the British version, but none the less it happens with so many shows. I've enjoyed watching the British versions of The Office more often than the American. And could you really take Monarch of the Glen and place it in America and have it be as funny? Some things are just better in the original.
Shipmate- 01-31-2009
Very much agree with you on that,M'lady.
StevieT- 01-31-2009
Ah, GG! I'm watching the re-runs of Monarch of the Glen at the moment (is Archie dishy, or what????) I have always promised myself a Highland castle when the Lottery comes up!
Tee hee, yes! Yes! Yes! I'm delighted that we're getting Jamie in Law and Order UK . I'm afraid I don't really watch the US version, so the scripts will be new to me anyway. Coming on top of getting Battlestar Galactica back (and being shown the episodes we Virgin customers missed) I'm in seventh Jamie heaven!!!!!! (DROP THE TOWEL AND BACK AWAY, BAMBER! Well, a girl can dream, can't she........)
Cough, cough1 Sorry Welshboy, little slip of loyalty there

Got to say, I enjoy the Archie episodes much more than the Paul episodes of Monarch of the Glen. Yes, he is delish. I could certainly enjoy watching Jamie in Law and Order - I just hope they write new scripts. Most of Law and Order is based on news, so hopefully they will deal with give more writers some work.

I was not aware that there is a Law & Order: UK. I'm a long-standing fan of the US version and I think I will give the British version a go, above all considered that UK detective/procedural dramas are usually well-done (Midsomer Murders is another series that I like very much).
Most of Law and Order is based on news, so hopefully they will deal with give more writers some work.
That's a good trick to find new ideas for a series. Law & Order has been running for 18 years and it is still entertaining and/or interesting to watch, while a lack of ideas becomes clear for most series much earlier than that.
Gaffer'sGirl- 02-01-2009
I suppose there is no end to the twists real people can put on the same type of crime. Perhaps that is why Law and Order has done so well. They involve themselves in the vagaries and complications of real (which are endless), not imagined human behavior. Despite my ranting, that should be a good show.
StevieT- 02-01-2009
Frances, they're filming the UK version at the moment, I believe. I didn't know that was how they got material for the the Law and Order storylines....I suppose there's a fine line to tread. I don't know about other countries, but in the UK some drama episodes are postponed if they are too close to reall events as to upset those involved (even if it's co-incidental.)
Now, back to Bamber in a Towel. Yummmmmm!

Do you think he could play a bodybuilder? :hmm:
