Scared
An earthquake hit my home region about one hour ago. Luckily, no serious damages have been reported so far.
Having experienced several major earthquakes, I know they can be scary and unsettling for a few days. Stay safe :hide2: and here's a :hug to bolster you up. I hope you have no after shakers.
Let's say that I'm trying to find comfort in the idea that I'm training for when I'll be very rich and, therefore, able to buy a home in San Francisco, CA, a city that I love.
Scaaarrreeeeee, Frances! :hug I don't know why, but my foolish brain somehow connected earthquakes with hot weather  I hope you have no more shaky times!
There's just been an aftershock.
Anyway, when it is unusually warm for the season, people here say that that is an earthquake weather, though it is actually a typical winter cold that we're having.
It all DOES sound pretty scary.
I'm glad you are safe Frances. I had no idea about this, thanks for telling us.
GinaP
I don't know why, but we always said when it was hot, that it was earthquake weather, so it must be universal. Hope all is still well, I worry more about Tsunamis being so close to the water. Although we are still in the earthquake zone.
I don't live near an ocean, so I'm not worried about tsunamis, but I guess that if I lived near the sea or the ocean, I would be more worried about tsunamis than earthquakes.
Actually, I should be used to earthquakes, since my area experienced another 4 or 5 major earthquakes in the past 25 years before this one. We are lucky that the nature of the soil here is such that damages are usually not huge.
Oh Frances - I just read this. I'm glad to see that you're ok and safe. Make sure to stay that way!
Frances, I just read it. Was it in Italy. We did not hear it here in Belgium. That must be very scary
Yes, it was in Italy. The epicentre was about 15 miles from where I live.
That's very close. Anymore aftershocks?
One, yesterday, early in the morning.
Strange that it was not in the news here in Belgium. Where was it in Italy, in a great area ?
