Scared
An earthquake hit my home region about one hour ago. Luckily, no serious damages have been reported so far.

Gaffer'sGirl- 12-23-2008

Having experienced several major earthquakes, I know they can be scary and unsettling for a few days. Stay safe :hide2: and here's a :hug to bolster you up. I hope you have no after shakers.

Frances- 12-23-2008

Let's say that I'm trying to find comfort in the idea that I'm training for when I'll be very rich and, therefore, able to buy a home in San Francisco, CA, a city that I love.

StevieT- 12-23-2008

Scaaarrreeeeee, Frances! :hug I don't know why, but my foolish brain somehow connected earthquakes with hot weather  I hope you have no more shaky times!

Frances- 12-23-2008

There's just been an aftershock. Anyway, when it is unusually warm for the season, people here say that that is an earthquake weather, though it is actually a typical winter cold that we're having.

Sylviane- 12-23-2008

It all DOES sound pretty scary.

GinaP- 12-23-2008

I'm glad you are safe Frances. I had no idea about this, thanks for telling us. GinaP

Gaffer'sGirl- 12-24-2008

I don't know why, but we always said when it was hot, that it was earthquake weather, so it must be universal. Hope all is still well, I worry more about Tsunamis being so close to the water. Although we are still in the earthquake zone.

Frances- 12-24-2008

I don't live near an ocean, so I'm not worried about tsunamis, but I guess that if I lived near the sea or the ocean, I would be more worried about tsunamis than earthquakes. Actually, I should be used to earthquakes, since my area experienced another 4 or 5 major earthquakes in the past 25 years before this one. We are lucky that the nature of the soil here is such that damages are usually not huge.

GNAT0629- 12-24-2008

Oh Frances - I just read this. I'm glad to see that you're ok and safe. Make sure to stay that way!

marthe- 12-25-2008

Frances, I just read it. Was it in Italy. We did not hear it here in Belgium. That must be very scary

Frances- 12-25-2008

Yes, it was in Italy. The epicentre was about 15 miles from where I live.

Gaffer'sGirl- 12-26-2008

That's very close. Anymore aftershocks?

Frances- 12-26-2008

One, yesterday, early in the morning.

marthe- 12-26-2008

Strange that it was not in the news here in Belgium. Where was it in Italy, in a great area ?
