Yes! It is finally coming to Holland. Finally some promo on tv. Perhaps so media coverage would be nice, but so far all that is gracing the covers of magazines is Jessica Alba. And as lovely as she is, I must, by now, have seen pratically every shot of her in the movie , because there are so many of them around. It is NOT fair.
(Okay, part of my grumble with this is, that some magazines are discussing the friendship between Keira Knightly and Sienna Miller on the set of 'Best time of our lives', without mentioning Matthew Rhys..grmpf and now I keep seeing all these photos of Jessica and hardly any Ioan... double grmpf.. :wall: :wall: )-
It will come to the cinemas on 26 July. I had to admit I already saw FF2 on the boat to England, but the sound was not so good making it hard to follow. So looking forward to seeing it properly.

Yes, I think we get that, Zoo. I was trying to work out why the accent sounds fake in FF when it's okay in CC. The reference to IOL was bit of irony, no sweat!
Ah, okay. Apologies for the misunderstanding. Maybe he's trying to hard to make his accent for F4 perfect because it's a huge blockbuster franchise resulting in it sounding horrible, sometimes if you try too hard at something it doesn't work out. He may have not put as much effort into his accent for CC because it wasn't a huge thing and because he was cast into a huge blockbuster movie that a tonne of people around the world are going to see maybe he freaked and just tried too hard with his accent? It's slightly possible....
Look at it this way, recently my family and I got a six month old cat from my sister who has been looking after it and the owner decided they didn't want it. The little cat is really, really timid and I have been spending a load of time with it and everything, trying to get it to trust and like me. I think I may be trying too hard and may be pushing the poor thing away without realising it. If I didn't try so hard maybe the cat would like me better. It's a very different situation but it's similar in that he might be trying to hard with his accent without realising it and I may be trying too hard with the cat. Am I making sense?

You're making perfect sense, Zoo, and you have a point about trying too hard. You can just imagine him getting all steamed up on set, can't you? - trying to get the accent right, while they're changing the script and moving on.....Damn, I almost feel sorry for him!

Yes, me too. It definately doesn't come natural to him, the accent thing I mean, and having the script daily would just have been making things worse which is a shame because he needs all the good recognition he can get.
I don't really think that the American accent can be all that hard to get out for most people, it's been pushed into our day to day lives and a good majority of the shows I watch are American shows with American actors and/or accents. Some little children at my mum's work can speak just like an American because of the shows they watch, which is sort of scary.

Aw! We're not that scary, are we?
Seriously, I do understand not wanting to lose your country's character and accents are all a part of that.
I guess his accent doesn't bug me so much because when I lived in California there were a lot of immigrants in the area, so on a daily basis I heard words pronounced in ways that were not typical American English and it influences the regional dialect. My Grandma from Indiana always said we spoke too fast and slurred our words. Here in Washington, we get a little of the "Eh" Canadian influence.
Got to admit though, I prefer him with a Welsh or British accent.

Oh, no I wasn't meaning the American accent was bad it's just scary to hear such a good accent coming from a child that is the height of my knee! LOL

I thought FF2 was much better than the first one. I laughed a few times and thought it was an all right film. I love the Thing and Johnny's love/hate relationship. It's great.

All of you are going to laugh at me, but sometimes my mind just runs this way....................When you were watching the film,at the Japanese garden wedding scene, doesn't the flower Reed Richards wears in his lapel match the one Ioan wore at his own wedding (and on the cake, too)? Hmmmmm, nice touch,if intentional.
StevieT- 10-14-2007
Cue for theme to the Twilight Zone?
I thought the bit where Sue's fashion choices are being trashed on TV and Reed tries to placate her must be an inside joke - til I remembered the scene would have been shot ong before the IOL situation kicked off.....probably :plotting

Yes, but in the commentaries the guys say, more than once, that scenes were added in even right up 'til the very last minute, sooooo......................
Gaffer'sGirl- 10-14-2007
I thought the same thing when I saw those scenes - how close it follows real life.

"Things That Make You Go 'Hmmmmmmm'"...........,right?
