Great interview! Thanks for sharing, GG. A question - are alot of interviews conducted by phone? I always wonder why so few of them have at least one original pic to go with them, especialy on the web. Expense, I suppose. Yes, I guess that conducting interviews by phones and using 'old' pics that they already had in their archives is cheaper than sending someone to interview an actor face-to-face and take new/original pics.

A question - are alot of interviews conducted by phone? I always wonder why so few of them have at least one original pic to go with them, especialy on the web. Expense, I suppose. Even if the interview is done face to face, unless a photographer, make-up artist and so on have come along, and a photoshoot has been setup, photo's won't be taken. It's very rare that you'll see a photograph of a celebrity taken just before, during or after an interview. They often won't show up for interview's with hair and make-up done. Most interviews done by websites don't have the funds to set up a proper photoshoot (which costs thousands of dollars, even if done on the cheap), and it serves no purpose for them. It's different for magazines. There far more visual, and often get paid for advertising brands featured in photoshoots. The less well-known a magazine is, or the less fashion-conscious, the more likely it is to use older stock photos, which is why you see old pictures being re-used. Online publications are a totally different medium, and don't rely so much on images. This interview seems to have been conducted face to face, Ioan and the reporter talk about their prior interview being done in the same place.

Thanks for that insight, jessd. It all makes sense when you think about it.

Thanks GG! Nice interview and there's a link for downloading the audio mp3. :applaud:

Just finished reading this interview...............now THERE'S the type of coverage that has some good current information and good solid questions-------Ioan was candid and informative, and the interviewer stayed on track. Really good report, and long overdue! Gaffer's Girl, :thumbs up :thumbs up

I know there are some actors who are just brilliant at improvising and brilliant at just being in the moment and doing it there and then. I’m not one of those actors. I need to rehearse. :rotf: At least we agree on that, Ioan. :rotf: Other than that, a very good interview. :thumbs up Very insightfull. When he explained the book Moonacre, I immediately thought of The Neverending story myself. Funny he should mention it, almost as if he had seen and liked the movie (series?). Didn't seem to strike me as 'his thing' at all. No critic, just my thoughts. Oh and pssst, Ioan, if you feel so strongly about the strike. Try this:  Just joking, ladies :happy I'm always looking for a reason to show a picture of Matthew. :cold shower 1 Wouldn't mind a picture of Ioan and Matthew together on this issue... :naughty

Glad you enjoyed that interview. Finding it was just a happy accident for me yesterday. jessd - I think your assessment of why there are no new pictures is very accurate.

Great Interview GG thankyou for finding it I found it nice read about all his different projects we certainly have some exciting projects to look forward to. It was well focused and I'm glad that Collider stayed in the lines of the films and didn't branch out to any of the previous events that have gone on over the year.

Credit goes to Bucky. People magazine "Free Association with Ioan Gruffudd:" The actor plays abolitionist William Wilberforce in the biopic Amazing Grace (now out on dvd) Something that should be abolished: Wire hangers. I have this image that I am going to collapse and die in a ball of metal hangers I can't untangle. Favorite Nickname: I try to get everyone to call me Mr. Fantastic, like my character in Fantastic Four. But my wife and I call each other "cogs." It was "angel" and then it was abbreviated to "angs," but when you spell that using the predictive text on a Nokia phone, it comes out cogs. Instead of baby angels, we're happy cogs! A lapse in judgment: When I was living in London, I invited two fans into the house for a cup of tea. They knocked on my door, and I was so shocked I didn't lnow what to do. They were well behaved, but after that, I though "That was crazy!" I shant be doing that again! ***** http://www.horatians.org/forum/index.php?topic=7238.msg161639#msg161639

Thanks annee! I know Bucky, she's a sweetie. She's single-handedly responsible for turning me on to all things Hornblower! I need to revisit the good people of the HMS Horatians. As for the article, third point ... He changes his story again. At least he's admitting he INVITED them in. Another rendition had them pushing their way into his flat. He really has forgotten that he had such a wonderful base of fans, hasn't he?! What a doofus. I'll leave the second point alone ... to early in the am to start losing things. And as for wire hangers ... ala Joan Crawford, I guess we can start referring to him as "Ioan Dearest."

StevieT- 11-25-2007

Oh, puleeeeze! Ioan Dearest, ( :rotf: Hil!)the world does not need to know every intimate detail about your relationship. Some things are best left to the imagination (and your fans are very good at imagining - we have to be!) The answer to the other point, is wooden coathangers, darling (or don't they have them in Hollywood?) For someone who looks so good in clothes, you ought to get to grips with the mechanics. I'm happy to show you what to do when you've taken your clothes off.........

Sylviane- 11-25-2007

a. talk to someone about this, you know, somebody with a degree in this sort of things, and while you're there... Oh never mind. One thing at a time. b. Who cares? Btw, Ioan Dearest (I agee, HilJohn :rotf:) I try to get everyone to call me Mr. Fantastic, A nick name like that has to earned, and so far, that has not been the case in my book. c. I agree that that 3rd answer was an eyebrower-raiser. But you're right, we have a better answer than last time. Maybe he'll become once again as well behaved as this fans. :happy At least it must be comforting to him to know that his fans have had a 'lapse in judgement' as much as he did. Makes us almost human in stead of an 'idea', no?

Frances- 11-25-2007

Thanks for the snippet, Annee. As for the article, third point ... He changes his story again. At least he's admitting he INVITED them in. Another rendition had them pushing their way into his flat. He really has forgotten that he had such a wonderful base of fans, hasn't he?! What a doofus. Well, he almost went back to the original rendition of the story. Yes, at least he's admitting that he invited those two fans in for a cup of tea and that they were well-behaved (which I think is the truth). Honestly, I wouldn't blame him for telling that this is something he shan't do again: what would you do if two strangers - and those two fans were strangers to him - unexpectedly knocked on your door? Ioan Dearest, ( :rotf: Hil!)the world does not need to know every intimate detail about your relationship. Some things are best left to the imagination (and your fans are very good at imagining - we have to be!) Right! The world does not need to know every intimate detail about your life and relationship (especially if you don't want people to start talking about your private life). There are things that are better left to imagination. (And don't take the fun of trying to imagine how you live from us! The answer to the other point, is wooden coathangers, darling (or don't they have them in Hollywood?) For someone who looks so good in clothes, you ought to get to grips with the mechanics. I'm happy to show you what to do when you've taken your clothes off......... I could volunteer to take care of his wardrobe for him. :naughty I try to get everyone to call me Mr. Fantastic, A nick name like that has to earned, and so far, that has not been the case in my book. In my case, it would never get to me to call him Mr. Fantastic because Mr. Fantastic is not my favourite Ioan role and he doesn't shine in FF and FF2 as he does in AG, HH, or KA (to name just three of his other movies), IMHO.

Shipmate- 11-25-2007

"Ioan dearest". . . . yes, the mental images are coming to mind by the score! ----------"Happy Cogs"?? Yes, a little toooooooo much information there! ----------------"A Lapse in Judgment", well, at least he's started to put some facts back correctly told. Now, how about that time when you took that ride in the car with total strangers????? Oh, Ioan,....dearest. . . . . . . . .

ringtones- 11-25-2007

I really don't think that Ioan is trying to lie or change stories or to hurt his fans. I am getting the impression that he is a bit "off" in the head at times (no offense). I doubt that any of it is malicious. I remember an old interview with his friend Mathew and Mathew was saying that Ioan would keep forgetting to pay the bills and things would keep getting cut off. And then there was that time he could have gotten himself killed by taking a car ride with strangers and all sorts of other silly things that he keeps getting himself into. This guy just doesn't seem to "get it"...something is just not clicking in his head. I am getting the impression that he is a nice person but naive and a bit spacey in the head.
