I wouldn't have advanced nearly as much if I hadn't had this relationship Hmm, advanced? Interesting choice of words. It is an interesting choice of words, I agree, Havoc! Just my opinion, but I think Ioan (and Alice) see a 'hit and miss' career in Hollywood (which AE seems to have spurred him on to) as superior to a successful career in Britain; that's their choice, I suppose. Relationships do change the way we think and are supposed to be about compromise, but who knows how they define 'success'?

zoo.station- 12-30-2007

Could he have meant as a person rather than career wise or is that what we are discussing?

HilJohn- 12-30-2007

Armani every time, huh? Doesn't that get expensive? Better get some more work, Ioan! I lived in LA for 14 years. Smog and traffic jams are not what I expect to see in paradise.

Frances- 12-30-2007

It is obviously possible that Ioan meant advanced as a person rather than career-wise. Anyway, since success and advancement are very personal concepts, it is hard to agree or disagree with Ioan without knowing how he defines success (and whether he was referring to his career or his private life). I lived in LA for 14 years. Smog and traffic jams are not what I expect to see in paradise.  Smog, traffic jams and having to drive anywhere are not what I expect to find in paradise either.

God I'm an idiot, I just reread the article and noticed where he said that sentence in relation to the rest of the article and it's placement more or less shows he meant career wise. Yeah, because Alice is such a big star herself that she can help her husband get more work. Sure.

Frances- 12-30-2007

It is surely not obvious how AE helped Ioan advance in his career, but who knows?

Havoc- 12-30-2007

It is surely not obvious how AE helped Ioan advance in his career, but who knows? No, it surely is not obvious. Nor personally for that matter.

Gaffer'sGirl- 12-31-2007

I suppose if you are married you should feel that way whether others see it that way or not.

StevieT- 12-31-2007

Isn't that why we say 'Love is Blind'. I do not know either of them personally, so cannot comment on what special qualities she may have shown him and not us.

zoo.station- 12-31-2007

what special qualities she may have shown him and not us. *cough* Do we REALLY want to know about that Stevie? Get OUT of the gutter Kaitlyn. Now.

StevieT- 12-31-2007

Well, Kaitlyn, I am shocked! :shock I was talking about all possible qualities, of course! And no, I'm certainly not interested in knowing about any of them. That's their business
