Sorry if I sound harsh, but do you think it is nice to be in a place if you don't have the time to visit and see what's around you because you get there one day and have to leave the next? To me: Yes, it's simply terrific. Also, they do not seem very upset and nor would I. i suspect even the people on annee's list load a dishwasher or two... Mah. I cannot help repeating what I said, stevie and Fran: if someone offers you to become a celeb, pass it to me.

My place operates on the "as long as it's not a health hazard" principle. I have much better things to do with my time.....like working, playing, loving and , of course, talking to my mates aboardships on IZ; all of them come before housework. My place operates on the same principle. I have much better things to think about and do than keeping my home perfectly clean and tidy. The only housework that I do every day is putting dirty dishes in my dishwasher. To me: Yes, it's simply terrific. Also, they do not seem very upset and nor would I. It is part of their job to look good at public events and during promotional tours. I can assure you that I met many people who have to travel a lot for their work and have to spend one day in a place and then move on to somewhere else and they say that their lifestyle is not terrific, they would prefer to move around less and have time to properly visit the places they go to. I cannot help repeating what I said, stevie and Fran: if someone offers you to become a celeb, pass it to me. I cannot help repeating what I have already said: you don't get offered to become a celebrity, but rather you have to work hard to become one.

Blimey, annee! Do you do housework every day of the week? The basic ones, yes. :blush2: Dishes Floor Hoovering Beds Rubbish Keeping The Bathromm Decent

Annee, I hope you will tell me if I start to sound like I'd be picking up on you or something, because I fear the language barrier might make me sound harder than what I mean. Because part of me is with you! I want to lead their lives, truly, I'd LOVE to live like them, but I'm afraid after a year it might become so sickening I'd want to get out of it... And the fear is, what if I can't? On the other hand, if you really want to become a celebrity, I think that can be done and it's not even that hard. Just sign in for every single game show and reality show you can, and then set up some crazy events like running naked through your capital!!! Don't think you're not tall or handsome enough... If they won't take you in for Miss Universum con-*test*-('"), sign up for car show modeling! They will have you. All you really need is a cunning PR person/manager and you'll be on tabloids ASAP! (*cough* not that I have thought about that) Sorry if I sound harsh, but do you think it is nice to be in a place if you don't have the time to visit and see what's around you because you get there one day and have to leave the next? To me: Yes, it's simply terrific. Also, they do not seem very upset and nor would I. That's their public face: They can't be seen tired. They have no jet-lag, no hangovers; They are ever-smiling, never tired robots. Their personal face? You might get scared...

Near Dipartimento Di Fisica there are the Studios for RAI - Italian Radio TV. Sooner or latter, I will really try something like sneaking in, organizing a sit-in in front of the RAI exit-entrance, saying that I am Sharon Stones' cousin, ... Really I cannot understand what has stopped me so far.

I agree with Painajainen that though I many envy celebrities their money and possibilities wealth opens to them, living in the public light may be tiring in the long run and you may find yourself wishing you could go back to live like 'normal' people do. Jainen, the day is getting closer and closer. I guess it depends on the kind of fame you are after. It is likely easy to get your 15 minutes of fame, but I think it is harder to be famous for longer. Anyway, fame and wealth are always (or often) the result of something you've done, so the question is what are you willing to do to become famous? Sorry if this is harsh.

Biggest way to instant success (or notoriety, depending on who you are) in this country seems to be appearing on Big Brother  I don't know how many other countries have a similar show..... Me, I would like a little of their money and the opportunity to meet some of the more interesting people (such as writers and directors) they associate with and discuss their craft, but I would hate to be in the limelight......it's hard enough living up to a professional reputation without having to do it in your private life too (or indeed not having a private life!). but that's just shy little me.......

Frances- 07-01-2008

Big Brother is a big way to instant success in Italy, too, and it is no surprise that they have hundreds of people every year auditioning to appear in it. I must say that participants in Big Brother mostly sink into oblivion soon after the end of the edition they participated in. Actually, reality shows are also used over here by celebrities whose fame is in decline to try and get back in the limelight.

Actually, reality shows are also used over here by celebrities whose fame is in decline to try and get back in the limelight. Here too, Frances! It puts a whole new shine on the meaning of 'celebrity' doesn't it? I think if I was in that field, I'd rather be known for my acting or music, etc than my 'celebrity'.

Frances- 07-01-2008

I think if I was in that field, I'd rather be known for my acting or music, etc than my 'celebrity'. Me, too. In fact, fame lasts long for those who proved to have a real talent in a field - no matter if it is in acting, music, dancing, writing, etc. - and work hard and consistently to succeed.

Gaffer'sGirl- 07-02-2008

We have the same phenomenon in the U.S. - a lot of reality show celebs. I'm sure some have talents, especially con-*test*-('")ants from shows like America's Got Talent, one of the Dancing shows, Top Chef or Project Runway. But when it comes to Big Brother and that ilk, I suspect con-*test*-('")ants of desiring fame for fame's sake alone. Not people I'm interested in. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever watched a full episode of Big Brother.

Frances- 07-02-2008

We have shows like America's Got Talent, too, and they are, indeed, much better than reality shows like Big Brother because con-*test*-('")ants have to show they have talents and so they have can rightly claim to fame. I've never watched a full episode of Big Brother, which I have to say is getting increasingly worse over here. The con-*test*-('")ants from the first edition did not know what to expect, so they were at least spontaneous, now it is clear that con-*test*-('")ants desire fame for fame's sake and put on acts to get attention.

Me, in the meantime, prepared my party gown. Who knows, maybe Ms. Mirren, Ms. Morrison, ... decide not to attend an event and phone me to replace them. Maybe Math will invite me at Chateau Marmont. Hoping costs nothing, doesn't it?

StevieT- 07-02-2008

I'm guessing they would love not to turn up at half the events they have to go to - why not offer your services, annee? You never know.......
