You know Frances, we could just for fun. She'd never know!
Yes, that's what we could do.
Like I said, I'd sooner pick working on cold cases than working for the FBI. I've seen too many movies/TV shows where those people are targets. No thanks. My other problem is that some of the cases they work on are kidnappings and child molesters. I can't handle that stuff. I don't think I could live with myself if I worked on a kidnapping case where the child didn't come home. It's the same reason I couldn't pursue a career in social work. I couldn't handle talking to children of abuse all the time. I'd kill myself in a week out of severe depression. I don't see how anybody can hurt a little child. It's just so unimaginable and unforgiveable.
In my case, it isn't being a target that prevents me from joining the FBI profilers unit, it is rather the idea of having to do with people in trouble. Actually, it is the same reason why I could never be a social worker, a nurse, or a doctor... I'm not able to keep a distance from people's sufferings.

I don´t think you can find anything interesting enough you girls!!!!!!!!!!
But you are right..... that job it´s way too dangerous!!!!!!! And we all want you girls to be safe.
Gaffer'sGirl- 10-26-2007
Ah! That's why I chose to be a writer. You can research, investigate, dream and live vicariously all of those exciting things without having to take on the dangerous aspects. I enjoy Cold Case and Criminal Minds also.

I'm a big CSI:Las Vegas fan myself, right from the beginning!

Hey Frances I totally agree with you on not being able to distance yourself from others' sufferings. And to be in that line of work there has to be a feeling of absolute powerlessness that can be devistating. I don't know how they do it. I guess it's the same way surgeons can deliver news of someone dying in surgery to the family. They just have to close their hearts to it. I can't. I'm a sap.
GG - that is definitely a very cool thing! You could be like our generation's Agatha Christie. It would be cool to research that to write an amazing story. So you could get all the juicy info, without the danger.
And that Criminal Minds does look pretty interesting I have to say. I can never remember when it's on. I can't get into any of the CSI shows though. I don't know why but it just doesn't hold me.

My new found favourite quote: "Is that a gun in your pocket? Or you´re just happy to see me?"
hehehehe!

Silva, was that mae West or Marlene Dietrich? I love that quote - used it the other day (except it was a mobile, not a gun, and it was naughty of me, cos I said it to the Ex :tsk tsk: and should not be encouraging him.)

I think it's Mae West. (And indeed you should not encourage, but it was very funny to read that you said something like that to him  .)

I thought she was the "Why don't you come and up and see me sometime?" actress???

Sylviane- 11-02-2007
Read it again this afternoon and it IS still so-o-o-o true:
"A woman is like a tea-bag, you never know how strong she is, untill she's in hot water."
Gaffer'sGirl- 11-02-2007
I gave a friend a pillow with that quote. I think it is wonderful, Sylvianne.
