Love it Silvia ;-) My favourites are: "Every time we panic, we weaken ourselves. Every time we think brave we make ourselves stronger." and "Love is not about counting the years, it's about making the years count"

FloMo- 07-13-2007

I've had this quote by Gandhi in front of me for 20+ years: "Love is a rare herb that makes a friend even of a sworn enemy and this herb grows out of nonviolence." Something else he said "Truth is God." I'm not a violent person but can be an angry person, so speaking the truth in love is a challenge for me. FloMo

"The highest form of morality is not to feel at home in one's own home." (Theodor Adorno)

Gaffer'sGirl- 08-28-2007

Your quote is excellent, Frances, but I particularly like the Loreena McKennitt quote you have on your tag at the bottom of your page. GG

I love this one "Friends are the family we choose for ourselves"

"Silence is acceptance."

*When God said to man kind "I`ll give you a guardian angel" He was thinking "I`ll give you a mother"*...... Now I know what that means.

Sylviane- 08-29-2007

*When God said to man kind "I`ll give you a guardian angel" He was thinking "I`ll give you a mother"*...... Now I know what that means. Speaking of mothers: Not a quote, but something another mother once sent me to give me a smile and a tear: I have no idea who the writer is. For all the Mothers in my LIFE... Someone said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby. Someone doesn't know that once you're a mother, "Normal," is history. Someone said you learn how to be a mother by instinct . Someone never took a three-year-old shopping. Someone said being a mother is boring ...... Someone never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit. Someone said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good." Someone thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee. Someone said "good" mothers never raise their voices ..... Someone never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window. Someone said you don't need an education to be a mother. Someone never helped a fourth grader with her math. Someone said you can't love the fifth child as much as you love the first. Someone doesn't have five children. Someone said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books ........ Someone never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears. Someone said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery ..... Someone never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten. Someone said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back ....... Someone never tried to get 4 kids cleaned and ready for church all at the same time and keep them that way till they arrived....... Someone said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married .... Someone doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings. Someone said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home .... Someone never had grandchildren. Someone said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her ........ Someone is not a mother. THANK YOU TO ALL THE MOTHERS WE HAVE IN OUR LIVES!! REMEMBER, NEVER TO TAKE THEM FOR GRANTED!!!!!!!

This is totally going in a different direction but: "You know I love ya more than my luggage!" I just watched STEEL MAGNOLIAS last week for the first time in ages. I love Olympia Dukakis. But I always liked this quote.

StevieT- 09-06-2007

Thanks for your quote on mothers, sylviane :hug I'm feeling/remembering most of those feelings right now.

I went to a concert tonight and now I have lyrics from a song haunting me... "It takes talent to grow old without ever growing up." (Franco Battiato)

Gaffer'sGirl- 09-08-2007

"It takes talent to grow old without ever growing up." (Franco Battiato) I like that, Frances and it's very difficult to accomplish. Was the concert enjoyable?
