Please Read!
This section is for pictures of Ioan himself. We appreciate that links may also contain group pictures, but when posting actual pics, please keep to the Ioan Only rule. Pics of Ioan with Alice and others can be posted in the new section below. :The General:

Nice new thread.  I've already done something like that for myself by the way! Indeed, recently, I took several pictures in High Resolution of Ioan (alone or not on the original picture) then I made a "zoom" so I could see only his face. It gave very good quality close-up pictures.  Pffff  you've already seen all of them! :???:  Again, are we allowed to show pictures from other FanSites, Websites, forums, agencies? :???:

Frances- 05-24-2008

Again, are we allowed to show pictures from other FanSites, Websites, forums, agencies? :???: It is okay to show pictures from other sites (fan sites, web sites, forums, agencies). It is worth to point out that you can go about it by posting the link to the page hosting the pictures that the others will have to click upon to see the pics. Otherwise, if you want to embed pictures in your posts, you need to 'hotlink' - that is direct linking to a web site's files (images, video, etc.) - to it by putting the picture address between tags. However, since in this case you are 'stealing' bandwith from another website, you must either seek the permission of the owner the site you are hotlinking from, or you download the pictures to your computer and upload them to your website or account with an image hosting site (e.g. Photobucket, Village Photos, Image Shack, etc.). It is usually fine to download pictures from a site and upload them to your own, unless they are from agencies like Wire Image or Getty Images that make money out of selling pictures and that may complain if you take pictures from them without paying.

My english is pathetic. Ooooooo I am trying hard to understand what you just said. Okee... Let me see... SO about WI: I am their subscriber (I've got the Plus package: 1 year archives for 25$/month) that means I can see their pictures in 600px quality and I can see them without their "watermark". CAN I upload these pictures to my "Hosts" (mine are StoreImages & Mediafire) and then show them here??

Frances- 05-24-2008

Yes, you got it right, Nicolette. Since you a subscriber to WI and you are buying the right to see their images without their watermark, you can download those pics and host them on your image hosting account. It is watermarked pics that can cause problems, if you uploaded them to another site that is not the one they were taken from. (What would happen if agencies like WI or Getty noticed that pics with their watermark embedded - identifying pics that were downloaded from their sites without paying - were uploaded to a site is that they contact the site owners and ask them to either take those pics down or pay to display them).

Nicolette- 05-24-2008

Oh that is cool then. :) Ok, I will then with pleasure upload some pics of Ioan and Alice on my Web-Pics-Hosts. Then I'll show them here. As for the other sites. For example, the "black eye" pictures of Ioan from www.bauergriffin.com, if in the future BauerGriffin proposes again some pics, you mean I have to give DIRECT link to BauerGriffin's pics? THESE PICS can not be taken and uploaded on MY Hosts, right? These ones CAN NOT be, right?

Nicolette- 05-24-2008

I have to go to bed (oooo it is 3AM for me!). See you tomorrow I think. Have everyone a nice sunday. Bye. :)

Frances- 05-25-2008

As for the other sites. For example, the "black eye" pictures of Ioan from www.bauergriffin.com, if in the future BauerGriffin proposes again some pics, you mean I have to give DIRECT link to BauerGriffin's pics? THESE PICS can not be taken and uploaded on MY Hosts, right? These ones CAN NOT be, right? I had a look at www.bauergriffin.com and I think you can download pics from there, upload them to your host, and get away with it. Honestly, it is to pics from agencies like WI and, particularly, Getty that we should be particularly careful about, as these are the ones who seems to be more attentive at pics from their sites being 'illegally' used on other sites and I heard of complaints received from them.

Nicolette- 05-25-2008

Hi everybody. :) I had a look at www.bauergriffin.com and I think you can download pics from there, upload them to your host, and get away with it.Thank you for that. Ok, maybe I shall just "credit" BauerGriffin then, at the end of my post, if I ever post a picture from them. :) Honestly, it is to pics from agencies like WI and, particularly, Getty that we should be particularly careful about, as these are the ones who seems to be more attentive at pics from their sites being 'illegally' used on other sites and I heard of complaints received from them :???: ;angry: They are mean. I am shocked. I see. Pfffffff.

StevieT- 05-28-2008

They are mean. I am shocked. I see. Pfffffff. No, this is how they make their living. Copyright protects artists' work. The rules are simple..... NO direct HOTLINKING either to or from this site (it uses bandwith). You can, however, hotlink to your own image hosting sites (Imageshack, Photobucket, etc). CREDIT any site/person/magazine etc you get images from, where possible. Nicolette, posting your WI pics in any form you choose is fine as you have legitimately paid for that privelege. Happy posting, people! :The General:

Nicolette- 05-28-2008

Thank you for your time. :) I still do not know what a "hotlink" is... I know I think, but the word seems NOT familiar to me. :???: I understand. If everybody steal their images, they are all "broken". :???: It's not what I want. Ok, so I risk nothing uploading my WI pics on my ImagesHost and then put the link to them, here. OK. :applaud: I will credit people, do not worry. It is normal to do so, sure. I will. :)
