Ha,ha! :cool: marthe - I have that one too (and some others) - it was Gill Gruffudd who sent them out in those days...Lovely lady that she is! {This comment is referring to pictures in the deleted link above}

Yes indeed Stevie and it was such a warm letter. It is a nice memory.

Here's the pics if that will save any of you some time. Nice ones too!

StevieT- 08-10-2008

Many thanks, maiden- especially for the Eisteddfod trailer still. :love2: (the other pics are such old, comfortable friends) A little bird (you know who you are!) whispered to me, that the trailer was probably made at the Marchmont or some such place, as where Ioan actually lives is much flatter. Fantastic view, wherever it is!

Scroll Down This Horatian Thread. :applaud: Warning: Stunning Pics http://www.horatians.org/forum/index.php?topic=7238.msg176278#msg176278 I'm not sure that it's proper etiquette to post a reference to another forum without permission. Oh, and I see how you cut and paste right into IMDB, that's why it has an applause that doesn't work. Those photos are uncredited, and many of them from IO.

Gaffer'sGirl- 08-10-2008

 Sorry, Stevie. Looking again and realizing there is water in the background, probably means an ammendment to that guess. Back to being a mystery location.

Darn it! Back to the drawing board....come on Welshboy - put us out of our misery! I'm not sure that it's proper etiquette to post a reference to another forum without permission. Oh, and I see how you cut and paste right into IMDB, that's why it has an applause that doesn't work. Those photos are uncredited, and many of them from IO. With my Admin hat on, I was already pondering the issue in Havoc's comment above. While what happens on IMDB has nothing to do with us here (unless it paints us in a bad light), it is true that it is not courteous to simply link to a whole page on another forum. (Why not provide a general link to the other forum recommending it?)It is a different matter to point out and credit an article or picture. So, I'm afraid I'm deleting your post, annee. Many of Ioan's pictures have been through so many sites on the internet, it's getting very hard to credit original owners. However, if anyone has original credits for any of the pictures that appear on IZ, I would be very happy to attach them! Stevie :The General:

The Eisteddfod promo was filmed at a house above Lake Hollywood Reservoir. If I find the article which explains how the video was made I'll link to it here. {Edited to add the link.} http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/7533808.stm "But I got the nod so off I went to LA and, with the help of a British man living there, got hold of this fantastic house with stunning views to film." "Rhys was first filmed outside on the balcony of the house in LA with the Hollywood sign in the background, and Gruffudd upstairs in the living room with the Hollywood lake in the distance."

Gaffer'sGirl- 08-10-2008

Thanks Muvidlover. Now that makes a lot of sense. I was beginning to think they may have used some Hollywood magic and use a big backdrop behind him that gave the impression of being outdoors  . Very cool. Just as an aside, the setting for the movie Chinatown was loosely based on the construction of Lake Hollywood Resevoir from the Owen's Valley river. Don't know if there were any murders, but as with any major project, there has always been the hint of some corruption.

StevieT- 08-11-2008

Thanks, muvid! Okay, now I want that house! Winning lottery ticket, anyone?

Shipmate- 08-11-2008

Ooooooooo, information like all of you have given is so much fun to read. Thanks,Everybody!!!!! (I had thought the first time I saw the Eisteddfod promo how beautiful the background was where Ioan was standing. Gorgeous ----and,I'm not totally talking about Mr. I either!) :whistle

StevieT- 08-11-2008

If I bought the house would he come with it, do you think?

Shipmate- 08-11-2008

THAT would be a requirement for the closing on the house, don't you think??

StevieT- 08-11-2008

"Ah, yes, and I'll take the Welsh garden ornament, too!"

Shipmate- 08-11-2008

....... ahh, but,of COURSE, Madame,.....we would not want you to have it any other way! .......Gonna COST ya tho'...........
