Oh, THANK you, for this...
Yes, I have noticed that some are able to have pictures on their posts, but I spent some time trying to figure out how to do this with no success. So, how does one get a picture on a post? Thank you.

Sorry, Call me stupid if you like, but I don't understand. Can you please explain where I do what? And will this also work with your own photo's or do they have to be on a site? Sometimes I'm so computer illiterate, but I'm willing to learn!

You cannot attach pics to your messages by directly uploading pics to this site, unless it is your avatar. Thus you have to hotlink them from other sites, if you want them to show in the body of your message. If you want insert photos of yours in the body of your posts, you have to upload them to an image hosting site, such as TinyPic, http://tinypic.com/ PhotoBucket, http://photobucket.com/ Village Photos, http://www.villagephotos.com/ ImageShack, http://imageshack.us/ and when you post the url your photos can be found at between (. On top of reply forms (it's the second from the right), you fill find a button with 'Img' written on it: you can click on it to get the tags.

Thus you have to hotlink them from other sites, if you want them to show in the body of your message. But keep in mind that hotlinking to sites that are not owned by you is a very bad-mannered thing to do in terms of 'net etiquette (and I'm understating here), unless you get prior permission from the site owner. So be sure that any photo you're linking to is in your account on one of the hosting sites Frances listed, or in your own site that some ISP provide you as part of your service. Many providers give their members space on their servers to create webpages which can be used to host pictures.

So be sure that any photo you're linking to is in your account on one of the hosting sites Frances listed, or in your own site that some ISP provide you as part of your service. Right, since when hotlinking you use the bandwidth of the site the image (or text) is hosted at to whenever someone opens the post where that image shows, be sure to do it (linking using the that will show on your tags) only if the image is on your account on a hosting site or your own site, or if you have the permission from the owner of the site you wish to hotlink to. If you wish others to see or read something on a site not owned by you, it is better to post a hyperlink, that is link you have to click on to be directed towards that site and see what's on it.

Is One Hosting Site Better than the Rest?

Is there one that will work better here at The Zone than the others? Does one have more options? Thanks! http://ilovemylifebrothersandsisters.blogspot.com/

This is SO cool, Kaitlyn
Well, (can I answer this stevie?) I think you can host them then put in the 'IMG' code. Here let me test: Edited to add: Yes, it worked. Host your picture (I use tinypic) and copy and past the IMG code like a normal thing of text. Then press post and the pic appears! I don't know if I'll ever be as good as you are at figuring these things out. That is so neat!

Well I use ImageShack and PhotoBucket, both of which work perfectly here and at other forums, though I'm sure other hosts would as well. Unless the others have been updated though, Imageshack and Photobucket offer a few more options. Any would be fine though if all you want to do is post pics here.

Okay, Here I come Tiny Pics
EDIT to original Post: Yes, I had success posting a picture which was very exciting for me with little knowledge and experience with being internet savvy, however it was too big to leave up and I tried to figure how to get to my software to make it smaller, however as I am out of steam and things aren't working smoothly in that department presently, I took the picture off and will sort it out later. Thanks to all lending me a helping hand. I'll probably ask for more help when I have some sleep. ORIGINAL POST: who-o-o-a!! It is huge. This is a picture from the event that I organized in Newport, Rhode Island, April 28, during GLOBAL DAYS FOR DARFUR. That is me in the yellow shirt. I suppose it might be too big to stay here. But I thought I would try what Kaitlyn suggested with Tiny Pics. How easy was that!! Love it. Not such a tiny pic, Tiny Pics! Thanks for the help! This is terrific, I come here to check out Ioan, then fall in love with the people here, then learn the ins-and-outs of doing cool things like this are not beyond my imagination. So, Coool. Just another little reason to love my life. party pink ellie ;cupid: http://ilovemylifebrothersandsisters.blogspot.com/

Good job! :applaud: And yes, it's a bit huge for a forum but sizing is easily done with just about every "photoshop" type software we all are using. Rule of thumb for a width is a max of 750 pixels. That way the photo will fit on just about everybody's monitor without having to expand to field of view. You wear yellow well!!!

Oh yes I need that! How is it done? Which hosting service do you use?

AuroraAngelfish- 05-08-2007

Which hosting service do you use? I got this pic from photobucket

Which hosting service do you use? I got this pic from photobucket Alright for Photobucket you simply upload the pic as usual, then once it has uploaded tick the little box underneath the pic. Then scroll down to the bottom of the page and click 'Generate HTML and IMG code". Cut and paste the code underneath the header 'IMG clickable thumbnails for message boards' into your post. That's it.
