Nothing to do with Ioan - Just a litte writing
I wrote a little story for Gnat on the thread she started about her fear of spiders. For those who haven't read it and want to - check here. http://www.freewebs.com/gaffersgirl/speedyandthegnat.htm In looking for another story, I ran across this silly poem I sent my brother for his 40th birthday. If you want to read - check here. http://www.freewebs.com/gaffersgirl/40thbirthdaypoem.htm

Have I already told you that I love the story of Speedy and the Gnat? I hope it will make it into a book. I hpe that when I turn 40, my brothers will write a poem showing the same affection and humour that you put into the poem for your brother, GG.

Thankyou for this afternoon's giggle, GG! All I can say is More, more, more! There once was a lady called Gnat Who waiting for spiders once sat Along trundled Speedy And although he was weedy He managed to sit on her hat!

Very nice, Stevie. I wish I had your talent for rhymes that you have, ladies.

That's very cute, Stevie. You are much better at the limmericks than I. I may have to see if I can borrow that. :hmm: Thanks for reading Frances and Stevie. Glad to hear you got a laugh out of it. I posted it kind of spur of the moment and then had some second thoughts when I wen to bed, so I'm glad you enjoyed it. Oops! Just reread yours Frances and realized that was a question. Yes, you did and much appreciated your encouragement. GG

GG, Very cute poem to your brother, and I liked the twist at the end too!!

Gaffer'sGirl- 09-18-2007

Thanks Shipmate - I actually did have to pour out the liquid before shipping it, so I had to do something to make up for it. GG

AH, the Perils of being a sister! Hahahaha!!! This isn't a 'peril', but when my brother turned forty, about three weeks before his birthday I sent him a card EVERY DAY until his actual birthday. The funnier and meaner the card, the better!!!!!! He loved it. Had all the cards lined up on the mantlepiece when I got to his house the day of his party!!!!!! We had some good laughs that day.

Gaffer'sGirl- 09-18-2007

That's great. Things like that make the special birthday's more memorable. My family loves those kind of cards. Every now and then we go sentimental, but most prefer a good laugh to face the day. Here's one you can do for a fiftieth. Tie 50 ft. of clothesline to a bucket and attach 50 clothespins to it. Use some of the clothes pins to attach notes and little gifts like eyeglass holder, small flashlight, coupon for metamucil, etc. The notes included one that said 50, 50 I had a hard time grasping the concept so I bought a 50 ft rope that's long, I bought 50 clothespins - so many I could hardly count them and so on for each item, especially if you can personalize it. Finally the bucket - with instructions to fill with water for the cake candles. Works well at a big party.

Good idea, GG. The wheels are turning in my head already................................

:applaud: :applaud: :applaud: I liked those a lot, thank you for sharing! You have talent! Remember to let us know when you write more of these...

Gaffer'sGirl- 01-27-2008

Thanks Painajainen. The read and comments are very much appreciated. I'm in the middle of writing a script for a friend and not working on it as much as I should. Also I might be trying my hand at self-publishing and marketing my book. I still have a few corrections to make and then I'm going for it. So, it may be awhile before I work on anything else.
