No more hope for Patrick Swayze
I just read that there is no more hope for Patrick Swayze. The pancreatic cancer he had, has spread to his liver. The docters have told him that there is no more cure possible. Patrick has been married for 33 years with Lisa Niemi. The past months he has got a revolutionary treatment and it seemed that he had beaten the terrible cancer. The star of Dirty Dancing has started to say good-bye to his family and friends. This is shocking news. He is only 56 and he still wanted to realize so much things. Can we still pray for a miracle ?

I'm sorry to hear about Patrick Swayze's cancer spreading and leaving him little hope for recovery. 56 is too young to die... someone that age can still give and accomplish so much... I'm particularly touched by Patrick Swayze's battle with cancer, because my grandfather (my mother's father) was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 34 years ago, too late to do something with the treatments available at the time, so cancer spread and he died two years later (at 57). Yes, we can still pray for a miracle (while there's life, there's hope, isn't there?).

He'll be in my prayers.

Gaffer'sGirl- 11-27-2008

I agree with you, ladies. Where there is life, there is always hope. And prayers can help.

I certainly agree with what you've all said. Each day is a gift to us.

http://www.reuters.com/article/entertainmentNews/idUSTRE4B176N20081202 LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Dirty Dancing" star Patrick Swayze, who has pancreatic cancer, on Tuesday denied tabloid stories that he is near death. Swayze, 56, said in a statement he was home with his family for the holidays after finishing work on his new television series "The Beast." "The only thorn in my side being that many tabloids have been consistently reporting lies and false information about me and those close to me," Swayze said. Lately, he said, "they're reporting that I'm on my last legs and saying goodbye to my tearful family." The National Enquirer has reported Swayze's cancer spread to his liver. The Globe, another tabloid, placed the actor's photo on its cover with the headline "Swayze Deathbed Secret!" Tabloid reports said Swayze had only weeks to live when the actor revealed in March he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. Since then, he has started work on the FBI drama "The Beast". "Pancreatic cancer is an aggressive disease and from the moment I was diagnosed, I knew I was in for the fight of my life," Swayze told People magazine. "It's a battle, and so far, I've been winning. I'm one of the lucky few that responds well to treatment." The Texas-born Swayze has starred in dozens of film, TV and stage roles. But he is best known for playing dance instructor Johnny Castle in the 1987 film "Dirty Dancing."

Well, that's better news, at least! Thanks, Jess!

Let us hope that he is getting better. Only Patrick himself knows the true.

Shipmate- 12-03-2008

I don't often watch the show, but this morning on "The View", Barbara Walters said she is going to be interviewing him in a few days. The interview will be aired early in January, according to what she says today.

marthe- 12-04-2008

Oh thanks Ship, let us then know how the interview was and how Patrick was. Thanks.

Shipmate- 12-05-2008

I'll try to catch it, Marthe. :Horatio wink:

Shipmate- 01-05-2009

On Wednesday (Jan.7th) the Barbara Walters interview will be aired that's mentioned above. Should be interesting,if you can catch it.

The interview with Barbara Walters was mentioned in a Belgian newspaper. Patrick has told her that he wont live long no more. Five years is wishful thinking, two years is more likely when you believe the statistics. He also said that he is going through a hell. He is very afraid and angry, why me ? This is so terrible for him. He has such a lot of courage. It is so sad.

Frances- 01-08-2009

It's perfectly understandable that Patrick is afraid and angry, and that the "why me?" question has crossed his mind. It is so unfair that someone still young enough to feel that they have still much that they can accomplish, do and give have to fall seriously sick.

It must be incredibly scary indeed. Very different when you have the time to think about it versus having illness and death coming quickly.
