New Role For Ioan?
Seems Ioan is connected with this new project directed by Nick Moran (of Another Life fame).......
"Moran and producers Steve Daly and Mark Thomas have assembled a good cast including Nicholas Hoult, who will play Lewis in his teenage years and Rupert Friend, who will play him as an adult.
They are looking for an eight-year-old to play his character as a child.
Ioan Gruffudd is expected to play the teacher who inspired Lewis and helped him turn his life around."
Shooting starts in December and I'm guessing it will be in the UK.....

That's curious because Natascha McElhone is supposed to start filming "Heaven and Earth" on December 10 (with filming lasting till February, 2009), with James Purefoy and directed by Marleen Gorris. :hmm:
However, Natascha McElhone can possibly be in both movies and I hope it is true that Ioan has been cast in Nick Moran's "The Kid".
Hmm, that's a poser, Frances - IMDB lists 'Heaven and Earth' as already being in production in July; maybe they'll be finished by Dec. I really hope this is a new role for Ioan - it sounds like a part he can get his teeth into!
Watch this space.........
I went over to IMDb entry about "Heaven and Earth" and they list it as filming from 10 December 2008 to February 2009 (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377458/business), in Cape Town, South Africa, and North Yorkshire, England, UK, (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0377458/locations).
 Sorry, I got my info from Natasha's IMDB page. I stand corrected. :blush2:
Well, it will be interesting to see what developes. With Ioan's connection to Nick Moran, it sounds possible. Even though IMDB is helpful, it does seem that information about projects that are "in production" or "pre-production" are not the most accurate part of IMDB. Probably very hard to keep up with unless someone close to the production updates.
Nick Moran is really making a name for himself as a director over here. I'm really looking forward to 'Telstar' (another film showing at the BFI festival) about a music promoter/songwriter from the sixties who turned down a fair few of the biggest acts around in their early days! The trailers look hilarious.
I read about this in the paper today to I think the role of the teacher would be fantastic for Ioan :)
Ah, a Brit production. Get smart Ioan! Don't bring Hollywood with you. Great news!
Much Good Luck to Ioan on this venture. A teacher,eh? Sounds like it's right up my alley!
