And here I thought you were going to kick of the forum... :hug Thanks, Stevie.
Funny thing is that is Ioan that drove me to have a better look at Matthew. I had only seen Abduction Club and Titus so far and could not see what was so great about him, but because Ioan was so full of admiration for Matthew, I decided to order 'House of America'' (on sale at the time)
After having watched it twice, once to 'get the accent' and the second time to 'get the movie' I had this feeling of 'Ioan who?"
What first attracked me to Ioan were his looks, then his acting and than the question came. "who is this guy?" With everything that happened at IOL I dreaded getting 'too interested' in Matthew. You always discover things you don't like about an actor. And I certainly had my fill of it with Ioan.
But when I got my new computer I started catalogue my interviews with Ioan and kept running into Matthew and I got more curious and then one interview led to another.
Funny is that you learn. When I read that Matthew would play the part of the famous 'Dylan Thomas' I went "Who?", never heard of him before. So over to the library and find out. Imagine, the library in Roosendaal has only a 3 books by Dylan Thomas (in Dutch, I didn't check the UK section) including the Dutch translation of Under Milk Wood - which I read and did not find that interesting.
Finding out that Bol.com was selling the UnderMilkWood version with Richard Burton and Matthew on it, made me buy the CD and now I understand why it is a 'play for voices' it should not be read, but be heard. It captivated me. I thought it was great.
So yet another learning experience.
This is exactly why communities such as as ours should not be dismissed as empty-headed idolatry (something Ioan needs to learn, methinks!).
I have loved Under Milkwood since my schooldays and you are so right - it needs to be heard, not read, to make those wonderful characters come alive.
Wow, Sylviane, that's what you can call a very detailed and well-researched bio of an actor! I saved it to a doc file and I think I'll print it out to read at my ease. I admit I have not seen much of Matthew Rhys' work (just Very Annie Mary and Dal: Yma/Nawr) and I don't get that "click" with him as I have with Ioan either, but he's worth keeping an eye on.
That is amazingly detailed and wonderful bio and filmography, Sylvianne.
Just a note - I think it was mentioned in that Welsh language interview in L.A. with Ioan and Matthew that Ioan thought Matthew's bad habit was talking too loud on the cell phone. I remember reading it on a translation on IOL. You should take a look at the clip. I think it's on Youtube and very funny even in Welsh when Ioan shows how Matthew talks on the cell phone.
You've done an incredible job.
Thank you, Frances! I thought this translation was forever lost! :woohoo
Thanks indeed Francis, I will print it and see what adjustments I must make.
Btw: I remembered having heard the reply about the most ennoying thing before, but I could not remember where/when/how/who. My reply is from may 2001, for the premiere of VAM, where they replied to questions about their relationship. So, Ioan had 2 years to come up with a good answer to the question about Matthew's most annoying habit. And still came up practically empty-handed. ... Matthew's perfect  ANd considering that 'the perfect man' does not exist, I think I must do some thorough investigation on this.... I'm in guttermaiden alley,if you need me ladies. :naughty
(While trying to find out when the Rhodri interview took place I discovered yet another interview with Matthew I had not read yet. Yi-ha! So double thanks.)
I'm glad you had that Frances. I searched, but couldn't find it. Like Muvidlover, I feared it was lost. I love that interview.
So Sylvianne, Matthew's not quite perfect, but pretty darn close  .
Matthew is on the cover of the October 23rd issue of

:thumbs up O yeah!!! It is probably one of the best pics of Matthew. :thud Oh how I want to unbutton that shirt!!! :applaud:
Oh how I want to unbutton that shirt!!! :applaud:
He spotted you, Guttermaiden Sylviane - that's why he's hanging on to it so tight!

(sigh.) That must be it. Why does he bother? I'm a guttermaiden... He can't win... yet, I like the fact that he is resilient enough to try...again and again... :naughty .... than off course, like Ioan and Jamie he suffers with grace...
:happy :happy :happy :happy
Must admit Sylvianne, that picture of Matthew is pretty darn perfect. Nice job GM Sylvianne. If you can get another picture with the buttons undone, I'd be quite interested in seeing what's underneath.
