Hi....
Matthew Rhys was a guest Thursday, January 22, 09 on Craig Ferguson's Late, Late Show. He was great!
When they load the entire episode of the show on the website - here is the link to find it http://www.cbs.com/late_late_show/video/
or http://www.cbs.com/late_late_show/
Matthew was the 2nd/last guest. Probably, someone will put it on Youtube, soon.
. . . I don't know if it is available outside the USA - however Craig talks about people watching his show on the internet all the time .

Tee hee. Any descriptions of marriage proposals from Mattie?

:applaud: I've SO had to shut up and not make some nasty remark when I read at the B&S forum. But no, Matthew was clever enough to only discuss accents and the English, according to someone at the B&S forum.
I can only guess his boy-/girlfriend (I keep an open mind  ) doesn't throw a hissy-fit over an ice-cube or something. :dunno

Hi StevieT and Sylviane,
Craig asked Matthew about a girlfriend, then he added he didn't know whether it would be a girlfriend or boyfriend. Matthew's answer included that on Sunday night's it was a boyfriend (that is when B&S airs) and the rest of the week it is a girlfriend. But then he added, no he didn't have a girlfriend. Then Matthew asked Craig where his wife was from and Craig answered "New England, not Old England". Then he added "Vermont".
If I am reading your comment Sylviane correctly, I am thinking you are saying you don't know Matthew's "natural interest". It prompted this thought:
Matthew according to my seeing and readings of interviews is not gay. He said once in answering an interviewer question, which was with Ioan and himself, "We go for different girls, which is a godsend." So if we can believe what we read, that might suggest Matthew is not gay.
Here are a couple links to the article (on my blog):

I was surprised though with Matthew's response to Craig asking Matthew if he would become a USA citizen. (Craig asks everyone that question.) Before I saw that Matthew never understood how someone could do that being Welsh. I think it was Anthony Hopkins when this was being discussed. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Hopkins This time Matthew said he would be interested in doing so. And he asked Craig if there was a test that he needed to take...
Yes, I went back to find the article...it was Anthony Hopkins he was referring to and Matthew said this in the article/post:
He said: "I got on well with him - but why he has taken American citizenship I will never understand.
"I could never do that - my roots are too deep." Here is a link to the article: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/732557.stm
Matthew also offered that he calls his mom every Sunday.
I see that they are about a week behind uploading the episodes on the CBS website for Craig's Late Late Show. Nothing yet on Youtube with the interview.

Matthew has always said he was straight, had girlfriends and likes women. But everytime I give that answer when somebody asks "Is he gay?" somewhere on the net, there is always someone replying with a "Well, he can SAY that, but I don't believe it...."
So now I am
a/ not replying anymore and
b/ keeping all options open.... You never know...
As to his becoming an American citizen: "Well, he can SAY that, but I don't believe it...." I think he's too rooted in his Welsh background to give it up... but like I said, I keep all options open. It wouldn't be the first time some actor disappointed me.

To my mind, why should any of our Welshboys become US citizens when they can have the best of both worlds? They have a strong bond with their beautiful home country and a great life living in the US. Their children will (probably) have duel citizenship. They have it all!
As for Matthew being gay, whatever info he gives will be negated by someone. To me, all evidence suggests he is heterosexual, but it's really his business. :dunno

I saw the interview too. It took me by surprise....I couldn't sleep, and then,.......hey!.......I noticed he was going to be on. A pleasant surprise. -------------------I thought the banter about Welsh language was amusing, and Matthew was charming throughout the whole thing. Just wish sometimes things didn't have to get so silly. But then,it wouldn't be Craig Ferguson,I guess.

It's up on YouTube. (May contain spoilers.)

Thanks, Olego, for pointing out.

He did very nicely in his interview. Very charming.

I think I will this 'becoming an American citizen' with a grain of salt, it seems more in the spirit of the silly conversation, then something he's seriously considering doing...
Did he seem a bit 'on his guard'?

I think you're right, Sylviane, though it may be natural to ask someone who moved abroad if they're considering becoming a citizen of their 'host' country after they've been living there for some time and if they look and sound very well-settled there.

While I enjoy Craig Ferguson on occasion, I rarely take much of what is said seriously. He tends to joke around a lot and gets guests to say things off the cuff and much of it seems to be said in the spirit of entertainment. Sometimes guests don't even get to plug their latest project or just a simple sentence about it.

This has been up on the ABC-site for a week or so, but linking to there is such a b...., because there's always adds and you don't always get the clips you click on etc.
This one worked right away.
Matthew and Dave Annable (who plays Kevin's kid brother) answer some questions submitted by viewers and take their job very serious.....
