A-ha, thanks GG, I stand corrected. After driving an airport shuttle for two years in L.A., I'm real familiar with the city. Probably couldn't say if it were anywhere else. Did you see those pictures on WireImage of Matthew and Dave Annable at a motocross day in Perris CA? Your people Magazine will be on the way today.

I was wondering: to anyone of you who speaks Italian. What is the translation of the question and Luke's answer? In che modo ognuno di voi somiglia ai personaggi che interpreta? Luke MacFarlane: Anche io e Scotty siamo molto diversi e lui per certi versi è troppo. The translation that was given to us was: How do you guys resemble the characters you play? Luke MacFarlane: Scotty and I are also very different, and he’s perhaps too… And it doesn't make any sense. Did something get los in translation? It is unclear. The answer in Italian is a full sentence, but in the English translation it isn't.

Sylviane, Matthew and Dave Annable are on their way to you, sent out this morning. Sorry to say it will take a little time. You would think they could get things quickly in this modern age, but it will get there.

Luke MacFarlane: Scotty and I are also very different, and he’s perhaps too… The translation seems correct. In che modo ognuno di voi somiglia ai personaggi che interpreta? How do you guys resemble the characters you play? OK Anche io e Scotty siamo molto diversi Scotty and I are also very different OK (Maybe he spoke about other characters before) e lui per certi versi è troppo and he is perhaps too... OK But too what? Too sexy? Too wise? Too fashion victim? Seems like some parts are missing, Syl. :) EDIT! I Have The Complete One, Maybe! In che modo ognuno di voi somiglia ai personaggi che interpreta? Dave Annable: Io e Justin ci somigliamo molto, lui però ha preso una strada diversa nel modo in cui ha gestito alcune situazioni che sono capitate nella sua vita. We are very similar, but he "took a different path compared to mine". He handled situations in a different way. Balthazar Getty: Siamo molto diversi, lui è hot! E' un uomo e padre di successo ed un personaggio molto complesso su cui ho potuto lavorare molto, a differenza di quanto mi era successo in passato in Alias. We're very different. He's "Hot"! He's successful, he's a father and he is complex. Luke MacFarlane: Anche io e Scotty siamo molto diversi e lui per certi versi è troppo. Per certi versi è troppo: may be something like "he likes bringin things to excess". http://www.movieplayer.it/articoli/04599/il-cast-di-brothers-sisters-al-roma-fiction-fest-2008/

thank you, Annee! I start to see some logic to the answer and the translation. :hug

thank you, Annee! I start to see some logic to the answer and the translation. :hug And for the link. I didn't know the 'troppo' was emphasized in italics. Scotty can overreact, be a bit of a drama-queen. So am I very off if I think that the general meaning is "Scotty and I are different characters, he can be a bit too much " (compared to Luke himself, who seems to be more laid-back.)?

e lui per certi versi è troppo and he is perhaps too... OK But too what? Too sexy? Too wise? Too fashion victim? Perhaps, the word that you are looking for to translate that "troppo" is "excessive". I wonder which the exact words were that Luke used to express this concept. BTW, I find it funny that you need to translate an interview back into the language it originally took place.

Sylviane- 07-10-2008

Annee translated it close to 'excessive'. I didn't read the original interview, only the draft on Luke Macfarlane's site. And it was written like this (in italics) Luke MacFarlane: Anche io e Scotty siamo molto diversi e lui per certi versi è troppo It got translated as: Luke MacFarlane: Scotty and I are also very different, and he’s perhaps too… That leaves me questioning: He's too what.....? The original interview however says: Luke MacFarlane: Anche io e Scotty siamo molto diversi e lui per certi versi è troppo. I guess that translating it to "Scotty and I are different characters, he can be a bit too much " makes sense. Because especially in season 1 Scotty can really overreacted to the things that Kevin says. Thank God, he's more grown up in season 2. BTW, I find it funny that you need to translate an interview back into the language it originally took place. Ain't it? If only some English reporters had been Rome. we wouldn't have had this issue. But now we have to do with Italian reporters, reporting in Italian and us poor souls to translate it back to English. And needless to say that we now depend on the interpretation of the Italian reporters, which could also mean, they translated it into Italian, assuming one thing, while Luke meant to say something else..... Oh, I'm getting a headache! And I need some :coffee

I guess that translating it to "Scotty and I are different characters, he can be a bit too much " makes sense. Because especially in season 1 Scotty can really overreacted to the things that Kevin says. Thank God, he's more grown up in season 2. Actually, the sentence in Italian doesn't make much sense and leaves you wondering "He's too what?", "He can be too much of what?", or "In which sense he is too much?". My guess is that what Luke said originally was kind of "he can be excessive/exaggerated, " or "he can exaggerate."

Sylviane- 07-15-2008

 After long deliberation the ultimate translation became: "Luke MacFarlane: Scotty and I are also very different, and he is in some ways over the top." But thank you. Nice little possitive news on Matthew: http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/2008/07/13/orchestral-role-for-screen-star-matthew-rhys-91466-21330852/

A nice thing for Math to do, Sylviane. Did you notice the side article that mentions him doing a Welsh/Spanish movie with Nia Roberts to be filmed in Patagonia and Wales in the spring of 2009? Down around Silvia's part of the world.

MIS Sent This To Me. :) Article about Math, who borrows clothes from Ioan. :) He said: “Me and Ioan are like chalk and cheese when it comes to style. He lives for his clothes and has an amazing wardrobe. If we’re going out I’ll just turn up at his house and say, ‘I haven’t got anything to wear’, and he’ll tut and sigh then lend me something swanky. We lived together for 12 years, which was great, because if I didn’t have anything to wear I could just wander into his room and grab something.” http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/2008/07/21/edge-of-love-star-matthew-rhys-yesterday-named-himself-one-of-the-least-fashionable-men-in-hollywood-91466-21375002/

I remember a mention of this several years back. Funny and cute that Math is still doing it, even though he now has plenty of money to buy his own expensive clothes. Kind of like brothers.
