....(and glad to hear they are quickly moderated out).
They can still be unsettling when you accidentally read them. Speaking of vitrolic.... Some of them are really creepy and very cruel.
It seems the series goes out on a limb to tackle the realities of life in a truthful way. I suspect Kevin's inability to commit was true to his character at the time - the world is full of 'flighty' people; gay, straight and bio. For gay people to pro-*test*-('") that this shows them in a bad light is not realistic, is it?
I guess it is a fair portrayal, I've read comments from gay men on AfterElton, that they recognise themselves in Kevin. Succesful in their work, financially independent but their personal life... could be better.
I really must get into B&S, so I can discuss the characters more fully
Carefull, those Walkers get under your skin if you let them....

It is amazing how civility seems to go out the window when people are posting on the internet.
I haven't heard anything in news or magazines about people being upset about the content on Brothers and Sisters from either side. As far as I know there haven't been any pro-*test*-('")s which topics like this used to cause. I suppose because individuals have more immediate access to voice their opinion on the internet, they do it in haste, without consideration for the other people involved and once it's there, it's hard to get rid of. I too, hope it doesn't negatively effect either of their careers.

I'm amazed, too, by how rude people can become when they're posting on the internet.
B&S is broadcast here on cable and I haven't heard anything either about people being upset by the series content or pro-*test*-('")ing about how topics are presented.

No eating at home for Mattie.
Rant: I wanna be a celeb too! No bus to take, no house cleaning, no "what's missing at home?", no cooking, ... /rant
The getaway girl
Daily Mail - UK
Flustered Sienna, 26, seemed in a hurry to escape the attentions of Hollywood's ever-present paparazzi pack after lunching with former love, Welsh actor Matthew Rhys, 33, star of US drama Brothers and Sisters at a Hollywood restaurant.

My rant now... Who says celebrities eat out (or go to parties) more often than ordinary people? It may just be that celebs get caught by paparazzi when they do (and this can have them going out for lunch/dinner or to parties less often that wish), while nobody cares to report on any media whether an ordinary person eats at a restaurant or goes to a party. And, honestly, I know of many ordinary people who never take buses (e.g., my brothers) or who have someone who helps them with house cleaning. Cooking may be fun (I attended several cooking lessons and I had to discover that there are many people who do the same and cookbooks sell well).
Actually, celebrities might envy ordinary people their being able to take buses or go everywhere without worrying about paparazzi or fans following them.
End of rant.
Gaffer'sGirl- 03-28-2008
Having lived there, I must say LA's bus system is not conducive to getting somewhere quickly. On another note, could you image the paparazzi issues if popular celebs periodically rode the bus.
Sadly, LA with its distances is set up for individual cars regardless if you are a celeb or not. There are very few express buses, no convenient underground, too far to walk, scary to ride a bike, and it's difficult to hail a cab as they must be called ahead of time unless you are at a hotel or major transportation center.
Frances- 03-28-2008
I remember from when I visited LA that walking, biking, or taking buses/underground trains are not options there, since LA is reallyset up for individual cars, so you have to drive anywhere, no matter if you are a celebrity or not.
However, I met people who would never bike or take buses/trains anywhere even where these are viable options.

Nobody forces them to live in LA or to be actors.
OK: why didn't I become an actress and I did not try to get the Jessica Alba - Ioan - Mattie - Sienna Miller - Helen Mirren - Marion Cotillard - Lisa Rinna - Hayden Panettiere .... lifestyle? I am too ugly and too short.

True.
Anyway, I was responding to your "Rant: I wanna be a celeb too! No bus to take, no house cleaning, no "what's missing at home?", no cooking, ... " Perhaps you were just joking and I missed this, but if you were not joking, I think that you envy celebrities for things that might not be true and that celebrities don't have an exclusive upon.
In fact, you don't need to be a celebrity to own a car or go to the restaurant, the difference is that celebrities are spotted when they go to a restaurant or a party, ordinary people aren't. And unless they are A-listers, actors probably cook, go shopping and clean their houses with the same help as many ordinary people.
What I would mention as something that celebrities can be envied for is that they usually earn their living doing something that they love, though their job has its down sides, too.

True. Not only celebs eat out, are brought from place to place in limos; ... et cetera.

True and not true. A celeb most certainly loves his/her job. :)
They are not the only ones who love their job, of course: I saw a great passion in nurses, doctors, teachers, farmers, tailors, hair stylists ... and so on.

Every job, no matter how much it pays and how much we want to do it, has its boring, hard, annoying parts. I love my job but it drives me crazy, upsets me and delights me in equal measures.
Actors like Ioan who, despite having a real talent, are not up there in that ridulous stratosphere of the Brangelina ilk , undoubtedly do all those normal things that we do. He is not drowning in work and most likely has to spend a lot of hard time promoting himself.
Anne, you mention Helen Mirren. I can tell you that Helen definitely leads a 'normal' down to earth life in this country. I can't speak for the others.....
My Mum used to say "There's no such thing as a free lunch." and I think Ioan would probably agree.

I guess it depends on the celebrity we are talking about. I guess Tom Cruise, the Brangelina duo, or other A-listers of his calibre can be brought from place to place in a limo whenever they go out, or live the life that you imagine celebrities to live. However, most actors - including Ioan - are far from that stratosphere and perhaps they have limos taking them to premieres or awards events (which do not take up a huge part of their time), but their life is otherwise 'normal', perhaps more similar to ours than you imagine.

So actors are normal people, in the end.

Seems to me that there was an article about a year or so ago where Ioan, Alice and Matthew Rhys were going to some party in LA and it said they took a cab - just like other people would or should if they were going to a party where they would likely be drinking.

ABC released promo-pics for Brothers & Sisters episode 2.14 and this yummie one was amongst them:

For the large version (up to 2000x2832) check

click on the thumbnail for larger picture (494x700), but click on larger pictures and you get the picture even bigger (2000x2832).

That is a very nice pic of Matthew. A tux is always a good looking choice. Unless of course, it's one of those powder blue or purple ones that were popular in the late 70's - early 80's.
