Yes, makes plenty of sense to me. Matthew DOES clean-up well, doesn't he?(Tho' NOT in that picture!!) I'm still in favor of seeing Ioan do something in a diabolical role myself (NOT like in Shooters, mind you!!),but something maybe eerily sinister, the kind you love-to-hate type of role..........

Hello! As I might have said before, I opened a newsletter which is dedicated to Ioan and Mattie. If you want to join it or advertise it, please do. It's a newsletter, so I "will not steal posters" to other places. http://movies.groups.yahoo.com/group/grhys/ Hope to "see you" there. AP

Small mention of Matthew, but there's also a picture of him and David Annabel (and I think Sally Field) in the middle of a crowd, and they also mention Rachel Griffiths. And I also saw further down a comment from Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica).(which has nothing to do with Matthew or B&S, but for a BSG-freak like me, I was just: "Woahh! Him too." ) Edit: You should really read RDM's comment as it is such a good example of one reason what the strike is about. It IS unfair. Sally Field, who won an Oscar for her portrayal of a union organizer in the film Norma Rae, was offered a cardboard UNION sign à la the iconic image from that film, but she waved it off, instead encouraging her Brothers & Sisters boys Matthew Rhys, Dave Annable and Balthazar Getty to join her in talking to the press about the issues at hand. (BTW, she couldn't have been more Nora Walker to her onscreen sons in that moment, and it couldn't have been more awesome for us die-hard B&S fans to see.) http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=117e4468-9709-4b35-8f4d-dcefa652fc3e With thanks to Forever at http://brothersandsisters-tv.com/forums

Good find, Sylviane! I like the 'natural' pics of our boys much better than the posed ones...call me an old softie!

Sylviane- 11-12-2007

Nora Holden at http://brothersandsisters-tv.com/forums found this link to the interview that Sally Field was giving about the Writer's Guild Strike http://www.brightcove.tv/title.jsp?title=1297294756 Matthew can be seen standing behind her, from about 1.15 min up to 2.15 (so for about 1 minute) He doesn't comment, he's just listening.

Sylviane- 11-14-2007

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQReNI2oJl4 found this on youtube. For those interested in how Matthew's doing in B&S. These glued-together pieces all come from the season's finale and are about Kevin (Matthew) and Jason (Eric Winters). Warning: there is one scene in which the boys kiss, so if that offends you, don't look (or look away). Other than that Matthew is hilarious, and Eric isn't bad either. ( Still rooting for Scotty(Luke MacFarlane) though! )

Sylviane- 11-30-2007

Oh yes. I'm back to haunt everybody with Matthew. through the Brothers & Sisters I heard of this link. It has 4 clips with B&S actors. The 3rd one in with Matthew, it is about 1 minute and he's 'adorkable'. Can't help but love this guy. :applaud: http://www.eonline.com/gossip/kristin/detail/index.jsp?uuid=d8376015-b9bc-45d8-a9ef-2b6e27d63fc8

For those of you interested in seeing the 'darker side' of Matthew  I found 2 clips from the movie Titus, that show Matthew as Demetrius. Be warned: Demetrius is NOT a nice character. The part of Chiron is played by Jonathan Rhys Myers. Oh, and just so you know. The peroxide blonde is Matthew Rhys. (takes a bit of getting used to. ) With Demetrius Matthew plays probably the most unpleasant character to watch, but at the same time I think it is one of the best parts that Matthew ever played. To quote Hob and Nob: 'Brrrillliant." The first shows Demetrius and Chiron fighting over Lavinia (they are brothers, in case you wonder about their relationship :naughty ), before Aarons steps in and offers another idea to get Lavinia. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cHcTWtfaBPI (5 minutes) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6pPP0t5q7uM This one is more gruesome, so be warned. It is the scene right after Lavinia is raped and tortured by Demetrius and Chiron. They cut her tongue and replaced her hands with branches. It shows the insanity that these 2 boys have. You'll never look at Matthew or Jonathan Rhys Myers the same way again. (And yes! That is Matthew revealing a bit more than one would expect. ) (3 minutes, Matthew is only in the first minute.) Compare those to the Kirstin interview in the previous post or the Kevin/Jason one and maybe you can see why I think Matthew is just great. And I don't mean this in a nasty way but I somehow cannot imagine Ioan playing Demetrius.:no no No matter how good an actor he is.

Sylviane- 12-04-2007

Allright, I had seen more than enough Ioan these last few weeks and I totally needed a break and what better than to loose myself in the series Brothers & Sisters, with my lovely Matthew Rhys, who, thank the gods, saw his lovelife or rather Kevin Walker's love live getting spiced up.... If you don't want to read any SPOILERS: STOP READING NOWWWW!!!!!! Allright, it's own your own head if you continue reading. Last Warning! Still with me? So few? Good, then I don't have to shout. To give you a bit of an idea what we are talking about. Scotty Wandell, Kevin Walker, Jason McCallister. Played by: Luke MacFarlane, Matthew  , Eric Winter The end of season 1 had Kevin fall in love with a minister called Jason McCallister, who just happened to be the brother of Robert McCallister, who is the fiance of Kevin's sister Kitty. At the start of season 2 everything was great, until the bishop decided that Jason should go to Malaysia. I think he had to built a church there or something. (In real life, the actor Eric Winter, playing Jason, was cast in another series, which never made past the pilot and first episode... So by episode 11 (we just had no9) Mr Winter is coming back. ;angry: ) Not sure whether Eric/Jason would be back or not, the writers brought back one of Kevin's ex-boyfriends, Scotty. :woohoo (He is SOOOOO cute. ) First Kevin and Scotty try to remain friends, but after a few weeks in which Jason doesn't even call ONCE (in weeks!), Kevin finds out that Jason manages to be in touch with his brother Robert, (aww, so sad for Kev  ). And then what we all feared (and others like 'moi' hoped for :naughty ) happened. The combination hot ex sleeping on air-mattress, lobster dinner and champagne, proves to be just the right combination.... ahm...fatal, I mean. Kevin and Scotty end up in eachother's arms again (Yessss!!! yes! yes!! :woohoo) ... ahum... which is off course not a nice thing to do Jason, the poor little minister (Who I personally believe to be a :censored, no matter how goodlooking he is. ) Why am I boring you to tears with this? (misery likes company.. ?) I've spent quiet some time on the B&S fora, argueing with other fans on important life issues like: Should Kevin have cheated on Jason? Who's fault it is? Should Kevin pick Scotty or dump Scotty and go back to Jason? It had been a long time since I had so much fun (well Ioanzone aside naturellement). It was a real 'Scotty vs Jason' (a bit like the horror-film Freddie vs Jason, but than less gory  ) and I read some pretty amazing arguements for both sides. But with this as my banner there: GUESS who I'm rooting for? :happy Go Scotty!! (I made both banners myself, actually :blush2: ) And than I decided to take another huge step, by, for the first time, putting one of my fics in an LiveJournal for everyone to read. :hide And fortunately it wasn't flamed. It is a B&S fic, but if you wish to read it. (Kevin/Scotty. NC-17 to be safe) http://marea67.livejournal.com/921.html Care to know how things went between Scotty and Kevin in episode 8 and why I will never again look at a lobster without a big smile on my face? Aww, matching bibs, so cute  (about 2min25 into the clip, total clip is 6.44 min) The boys have a kiss, but blink and it's over... so be warned - And for your info: Scotty works in the kitchen of a posh restaurant. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_woAH9ff3wQ If you think Luke is cute and you want to know a bit more: A small, nice website. http://lukemacfarlane.org

Mattie article with Ioan mention. :) Tuesday December 11, 2007 Coming to America With new friends and ‘family’, Welsh actor Matthew Rhys can now call Los Angeles home. By MUMTAJ BEGUM ONE thing is immediately noticeable when talking to actor Matthew Rhys on the phone. His Welsh-accent is bizarre. This is especially true if you’re familiar with his portrayal of the very American Kevin Walker in Brothers & Sisters (currently showing on Star World). Matthew Rhys: ‘The sense of family is very strong at home (in Wales).’ After exchanging “hellos” and “how are yous?”, the most obvious question has to be asked: is it difficult for Rhys to speak in an American accent on the show? “Yes. I do find it difficult. It’s not something you can just do. I always work at it. It doesn’t come naturally,” answers Rhys. Both Rhys and Aussie Rachel Griffiths (who stars as his sister on the show) maintain their American accent on set. “When we talk in our own accent, it makes going back to the American accent so much harder.” Born and raised in Cardiff, South Wales, the 33-year-old has been actively appearing in theatre, TV shows and films for a decade now. He received his training from the prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. And besides projects in Wales and London, Rhys travelled wherever his acting took him, including to New Zealand, Ireland, and the United States. These days, he calls Los Angeles home. Although he still misses Wales a lot, he has adjusted to California’s lifestyle pretty well; even admitting to absolutely loving sushi like most Hollywood stars. “The first time I came here – nine years ago – I stayed for two-and-a- half weeks. The second time, I stayed for a month, and third time, I stayed a-month-and-a-half. So it happened quite gradually. My stay in LA progressively got longer. By the time I came here for Brothers & Sisters I spent about six or seven months here, so my move to the city has been a gradual process. There wasn’t any huge cultural shock.” No doubt it helps that American TV is currently populated by British actors, which means Rhys gets to hang out with friends from back home while working in the United States. What’s more, his best friend – none other than Mr Fantastic himself, Ioan Gruffudd, a Welsh native – also lives in LA. Not that anyone’s complaining about the Brits invading American soil. Rhys figures the wave is due to lack of work in Britain. “I’m sure very soon the Americans will grow very tired of us. But God bless them for letting us work here.” Apparently there are no catfights among the cast of Brothers & Sisters – which includes Sally Field, Calista Flockhart, Griffiths, Balthazar Getty, Ron Rifkin and Dave Annable. Truth is, the cast members are as close as, erm, family. “... when Dave and Balthazar are together, we do get a little noisy, especially with the big dinner scenes. We tend to get a little over the top until Sally smashes our heads together.” When asked if he has had any memorable scenes that he’d like to share, Rhys says with a laugh: “None that could go to print! Balthazar and I actually went on vacation last year to England, and we showed Dave around London and had some very memorable evenings.” In Brothers & Sisters, Rhys plays matriarch Nora Walker’s (Field) son, who is also the family lawyer. Kevin Walker also happens to be gay. Rhys has no problem playing Kevin as he has played homosexual characters before. No worries that he may be stereotyped for gay roles, however, because he’s also filmed steamy scenes with both Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller for the upcoming film, The Edge of Love (he was rumoured to be dating Miller during this filmshoot). “That’s the flip side of the coin. I mean you play the gay part and then you play the heterosexual part. It’s a balance of yin and yang, I guess.” Rhys describes Kevin as a beautiful character. “He’s both sides of the penny. On a professional level, he’s this very confident lawyer who knows what he’s doing and does it very well. And on the flip side, his love life is a complete no-hoper. He desperately tries to put that side of his life together. ” Brothers & Sisters is already into its second season in the United States, slowly gaining a steady stream of fans thanks to its cast, superb writing, complex characters and complicated family and individual themes. Rhys’s initial interest was thanks to the involvement of series’ writer and creator, Jon Robin Baitz, whose works Rhys is familiar with. “The writing was very strong; I hadn’t read any writing of a pilot like that for a long time. You had some characters who interact beautifully on the page. He writes conflicts so well.” Family-oriented programmes on TV have always struck a chord with audiences worldwide. Even Rhys confesses that he relates to the storylines on family shows like Brothers & Sisters as they carry universal themes. “The sense of family is very strong at home (in Wales). For me, I could understand those people quite easily. However strong and whatever your family is, there’s always complexity and difficulties involved. There were some storylines in which I would just use my own imagination, and there were some in which I could just relate to quite easily.” http://www.star-ecentral.com/news/story.asp?file=/2007/12/11/tvnradio/19669216&sec=tvnradio

Oh lovely, thanks for that. Mhmm, I just love Kevin. I hope that he was just speaking of Kevin's love life as a 'no hoper' with regard to the first season, because the second second gives us high hopes   The sense of family is very strong at home (in Wales). Awww, gotta love this boy.
