And another one. Just because it looked sooooo sad....
:hug A very, very lovely surprise for us,Sylviane!!!!!! Thanks SO much! I just am smitten with the third pic because it looks so natural.............you're a peach! (Awwww, pic #4 :crying )
Thanks Syviane :hug . I'm feeling bereaved at the moment. M&b is missing from my collection. I know I lent it to one of two freinds and eacn is blaming the other. Sigh! I know it was only a fiver, but I look on my Ioan collection as a gestalt and when one part is missing...........it's okay, the men in white coats are coming for me now. I'll come quietly. Just give me that nice quiet room again please? The one with the soft walls. Oh, and just chuck Max Bracchi in there too, eh? In a rubber room, no-one can hear you scream, Max..............
Sorry, lost it there for a moment. Where were we? Man and Boy. Yes. Lovely pics, Syl!
That's a shame,Stevie,I'm sorry. Maybe another copy will come along soon for you. My POLDARK was just a happenstance when I was at a flea market the other day! (BTW,did you receive my message? Computer was acting weird a while ago.)
Got it, thanks, Matie! :hug I'll forward some stuff in the morning!

Let's see, where do I start with this? I saw it. I LOVED it. I laughed. I teared up. I wanted to shake Harry a few times and tell him to GROW UP. I wanted to hug him and tell him, aww Honey, it's gonna be alright. The title fits SO well on this one, doesn't it? All of the male characters are having issues with being "Man" & "Boy", aren't they? It was great fun to try and figure out which way Harry was going to swing (man to boy,OR, boy to man) especially as he begins to take care of Pat-------------who,BTW,stole my heart,---wasn't he the cutest little guy?-------------------------------I totally fell into the story on this one, and forgot about Ioan being Ioan. I just saw a fairly average guy trying to make his way through some rough times, ladened with his past mistakes, struggling with his own relationship with his own father; AND, after a good deal of trial-and-error, and some kicking-in-the-pants by a few people; he emerges a wiser, more mature, responsible fellow.---------------------------------I found myself laughing aloud at some of the things little Pat did and said---kids always seem to get the good lines in this kind of thing, and the music was so appropriate to the different scenes being played out,too!---------------When Harry's mom bumps her head on the coffin, I just lost it!!!--------Did the ending remind anybody a little of the films "An Affair to Remember", or "Sleepless in Seattle"?
Matie, I'm glad to hear you saw Man & Boy and enjoyed it. I loved this movie and the characters were so truthful and I rejoiced and suffered with them and I was totally taken by the story.
Did the ending remind anybody a little of the films "An Affair to Remember", or "Sleepless in Seattle"?
YES!!!!!! I adored the ending and thought the same myself.
i am so pleased you got to watch it Shipmate. It has become one of my favorite movies for the exact reasons you mention. You see how Harry grows so much through what happens and develops that close relationship with his son that he may not have otherwise had.
His Mum hitting her head was one of those moments that everyone can identify with. it brought a touch of humor to the sadness. Being a jazz fan, I also adored the music and I loved it later when Harry is really sad and starts singing "Just the way you looked tonight" to himself. In fact I think that was the photo Syl posted where he is trying not to cry.
I am reading the book and I highly recommend it. The lines in the movie are lifted directly from the book. You get more background of course. I picture all the characters as I read it. The song is also refered to in the book. There is a 2nd book "man and wife" which tells the continuing saga of harry and Cyd.

Thanks SusieD, The book ideas perked up my ears! May have to bug Santa a little about that!!! Hahahaha!
Anyway, thank you for the link to this sounds-to-be nice forum about Ioan-Horatio. :hug
Yes, indeed! Horations is a well-established site, largely around all things Hornblower for those who are Horatio inclined! (and who isn't?)
