How can I forget being utterly hoodwinked/appalled/worried and subsequently relieved in the space of two minutes! It ought to be against the law to do that to a mother, anybody's mother!
:happy It's one of my most favourite forum member moments ever, I seriously didn't think you'd believe me! I took pity when I saw your reaction though, poor poor Stevie! If you reacted like that...how would my own mother have taken the, uh, news?
You have a wicked sense of humour, Kaitlyn (I mean that in a good way - don't ever change!
Thanks Stevie :hug Trust you to be the one that makes it hard for me to stay on topic just when I say I will! :happy Legend.
Yes I'm thinking there must be another DVD edition out there somewhere!I could be completely off on this, but for some reason I think those captures and the interview from IOL came from a Japanese edition. I'm sure there was a Japanese version out there that had bloopers and other extras.
I think you may be onto something, jess.
So my grandmother officially loves Ioan now. I let my grandparents borrow my 8 disc and they watched all the movies in the span of a week. Then they watched Amazing Grace. My grandmother loved him as Horatio. She said that Ioan is a cutie. LOL. I told her I couldnt agree more.
How could I disagree with your Gran, Blue! I'm going to be a granny by October and Welshboy will be as cute as ever (not to mention there'll be another generation to indoctrinate! )
It is a pity that my grandmother doesn't speak English well enough to make it possible for me to indoctrinate her (and I haven't found the dvds in other languages than English and I forgot to tape HH when it was broadcast on TV dubbed in Italian), but I am hopeful that I can indoctrinate my nephew and niece (I can pretend I'm trying to teach them English ).
I've gotten most of my family to watch HH and Amazing Grace. And since that several have watched more of my Ioan collection. They actually know how to pronounce his name correctly because of my influence, but probably don't know how to spell it  .
Well the first time my grandmother said his name she called him Ian... I politely corrected her and now she knows how to pronounce his name.
Fortunately my Dad (who is 87 and a historian still) finds all things Nelsonesque fascinating and can also pronounce Ioan's name perfectly (mind you, that may be because he's also Welsh! )
Dad has a beautiful scale replica of the HMS Victory (Nelson's flagship)which stands on a piece of the Victory's timber (following refurbishment) and also contains bits of brass from the original ship. methinks it is the one heirloom that will be hotly contested between Big Bro and me!
Your father would get along well with my mother, Stevie. She teaches history and also loved Hornblower (we watched it together when it was broadcast on TV).
I can understand how your dad's scale replica of HMS Victory is something that both you and your brother will want to keep.
That does sound like a nice treasure, indeed!
Yes,I'll say! Would love to hear sometime how your dad came to acquire such a beauty!
