Isn't HH great?:sailor: HH dvd boxset is a purchase I have never regretted.

FloMo- 06-26-2007

Agreed on all counts! Hornblower is still my favorite of all Ioan's characters, and Mutiny/Retribution my favorite of his films. Welcome to the forum, CherryCokeGrl! FloMo

Thanks FloMo! I'm so glad I found this board!! :) Yes, Ioan does such a great job as Hornblower!!

He's awesome! And it's so lovely to see him grow during that series, as the character as well as an actor.

HilJohn- 06-26-2007

Hi Cherry! :bye: In total agreement here! And to add, the whole cast is top-notch! I fell in love with a number of the characters in addition to Hornblower; and I am thrilled when I see the various actors in other work. I saw Miss Potter the other day and let out a small "squeeeee" for Barbara Flynn, aka Mrs. Mason, Hornblower's monster-in -law.

Awww. that is so nice. Where were the times I was that innocent... December 2005 when I first watched the first four episodes. Falling absolutely in love with Archie Kennedy/Jamie Bamber and Horatio/what's-his-name-you-know-the-one-who-plays-the-lead-character.

Gaffer'sGirl- 06-26-2007

I happened to be in a room full of people when I first saw Horatio step on to Justinian, so I had to keep my gushing to a minimum, but I anxiously awaited The screening of Fireships and watched the encore of The Duel inbetween. Ah! I was blissfully hooked. Welcome CherryCokeGirl. GG

Blue Eyes- 12-29-2007

Yay! I got the HH collectors edition for christmas! Happy Dance! :pink ellie

Gaffer'sGirl- 12-30-2007

:mex.wave: What a Merry, Merry Christmas, Blue Eyes. Congrats. Let us know if there are any special features you like that you haven't seen before.

StevieT- 12-30-2007

Happy viewing, Blue eyes! I have had the individual discs for years now and so missed out on any additional features the box-set brings. Was it the 'Horatio on Horatio' piece? However - cry ye not 'Traitor!' - I am doing the same delirious dance over my fifteen disc Sharpe boxset, which has some delicious features. :duel :rider :cloud9: I find myself wondering why - given the accolades HH received at the time and the fact that they were made at roughly the same time and deal with the same historical period, as marvellously as each other - Sharpe is viewable on cable practically every day and Hornblower is conspicuous by it's absence. (I know the entire series was available on Demand awhile back, but only to Virgin Media customers.) I'm thinking from a 'keeping a high profile' point of view......

Yay for the box set. Congratulations on the box set for Christmas too Blue Eyes, I remember the year I got the box set...I can't believe the number of times I watched the exam one! I was watching this totally gross New Zealand made show the other night, I don't even know why I kept watching it because it was yukky; anyway, I was watching this scene where this chick is walking through a video shop and is having this conversation with someone else and they stopped at this shelf and kept talking and there was The Even Chance just sitting there on the shelf. Someone on that set had good DVD taste.
