It's good to hear you had a lovely barbie for Sarah's birthday last night, blessed by sunny and warm weather (that I've come to appreciate, given all the rain that we're having here now). Something strange has been happening in my street. I think the local council is on something. People have been getting letters informing them that play equipment such as swings/ see-saws/sandpits etc are "unsightly" and should be "removed" from the gardens!!!!?????? Do they have the right to ask? I can't imagine what would happen if the local council sent letters informing people in my neighbourhood that they have to remove play equipment from their gardens because it is "unsightly".

I suppose, as it's their property, they have a technical right to ask, but certainly not a moral right - why would anyone want to prevent children from actively playing? This will certainly come up at the next Residents Meeting - maybe the Council will have an answer....it's bureaucracy gone mad! ;angry: 'Garden' letters usually refer to overgrown, weedfilled gardens - which I can understand, as they are unsightly (and spread more weeds to everyone else!)

:hmm: I see. I would understand the local council position if we were talking about equipment that it is very hard to remove if and when tenants moved out, but I guess the equipment we are talking about (swings, see-saws, etc.) that are easy to remove and would go with the tenants who leave.
