Thanks, Stevie.
I'm not usually a great fan of poetry, but I loved this project... perhaps if they had good actors read poems more often, I'd get to like poetry much better.
Ioan read "Gloire de Dijon" by DH Lawrence and "Momentous Words" by Edwards Rowland Sill in this project.
Gloire de Dijon
WHEN she rises in the morning
I linger to watch her;
She spreads the bath-cloth underneath the window
And the sunbeams catch her
Glistening white on the shoulders,
While down her sides the mellow
Golden shadow glows as
She stoops to the sponge, and her swung breasts
Sway like full-blown
Gloire de Dijon roses.
She drips herself with water, and her shoulders
Glisten as silver; they crumble up
Like wet and falling roses, and I listen
For the sluicing of their rain-dishevelled petals.
In the window full of sunlight
Concentrates her golden shadow
Fold on fold, until it glows as
Mellow as the glory roses.
D. H. Lawrence
Momentous Words
WHAT spiteful chance steals unawares
Wherever lovers come,
And trips the nimblest brain and scares
The bravest feelings dumb?
We had one minute at the gate,
Before the others came;
To-morrow it would be too late,
And whose would be the blame!
I gazed at her, she glanced at me;
Alas! the time sped by:
"How warm it is to-day!" said she;
"It looks like rain," said I.

Ooooooooooh! I LOVE this!!! The Poetry.......(sigh!)......... Just the kind of thing I get into!!! Where did you find all of this? Were the photos part of it too? (They are GORGEOUS ,by the way :cold shower 1 :cold shower 1 :faint ) Luuuuuuuuv it! Thanks--------- P.S.--- Gggguuuuuuuhhhhh, the second set of pics were't up yet when I originally posted this!!! Heart palpitations, Anyone??? Myohmyohmyohmyohmy............... :faint :rotf: :rotf: :devil
Matie, the pics are screenshots I made of the little scenes that accompany the poems. Some are voice-overs like First Love and Momentous Thoughts. Others are actually spoken during the scenes, like Gloire Di Dijohn.
There are many poems, read by many popular performers, on the DVD and as, Frances says, even if poetry doesn't usually float your boat, this is a wonderful project.
:secret: Matie! Ioan's expressions in the 'First Love' pics is exactly how I imagine him in Lancelot's Revenge (not to mention the words of the poem being entirely appropriate for FLAE, don't you think?) :wink:
YES, absolutely Stevie, couldn't fit any better......is the DVD available? (It's probably Region 2. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.........)
It's a BBC DVD. It says Regions 2 and 4 on the back, but you never know :wall:
is the DVD available? (It's probably Region 2. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.........)
Yes, it is available, but it is only Region 2, as far as I know. Otherwise, there is an audio CD - but you only get voices, not images - and the same collection of poems has been published as a book.
I DID look into it and no luck. . . . . . . . but I did order a copy of the book, so that's okay! Dirt-cheap on amazon. com.. . . . . . . . . . . the shipping cost is the only thing you pay. Thought I'd give it a try. Will let you know how it turns out.
Hi!! June here.....the Gallery Mod from the old ioanonline. I was in the process today of cleaning out all of my Ioan related stuff (there's tons of it) since I am no longer a part of any Ioan sites or have any intertest, unfortunately, in him anymore.
I came to this site, as I'm trying to sell off all of my huge collection of stuff that I've accumulated over the seven years that I was a fan. I happened upon this thread.
I have a homemade CD that was done of just these three poems (audio and video together). Let me make a file of it and will post the link in a separate post.
I will be contacting StevieT to ask where I can post an announcement of all of my other stuff that will be for sale (dozens of hard to find interviews (VHS), all of the Hornblower audiobooks, film DVDs, VHS tapes of all of his films etc., books, audio CDs, magazines etc. etc.
Stevie I'm so glad you have posted this!! I coincidentally purchased this and it just arrivied today.
Woah.....................Ioan reading love poems................ :mex.wave:
Oh and yes it is labelled as region 2 and 4 and it plays in my other (fixed region) DVD player as well.
Shipmate, I feel so sad...........what region do you need?
Love the screen caps ladies.
Susie
